True, Palin and the tea parties opposed the nut case, and sure enough, he blew the election and cost us the seat.

Akin clearly couldn’t win the general election.

Akin was McCackle’s choice for an opponent. What does that tell you ?

That tells me that from a diseased liberal perspective --- fully believing the ability to murder babies in the name of women's health rights trumps all --- that Akin was a beatable conservative opponent. Nothing more, nothing less. And, since diseased liberal minds do not comprise the grass roots base of the Republican Party, I didn't really think it affected us all that much.

Palin said he should step down, along with michelle malkin and just about every other sane conservative, it wasn’t just the gope. He was an ego driven fool who lost an unlosable seat by a landslide.

In your mind you've manufactured a non-existent third-person who could have swept in like Superman and captured the hearts and minds of Missourians and won the day ... if only Akin had stepped aside. That's a pipe dream, pure fantasy, borderline delusional. Where is this Super Hero? What was his or her name? Name names.

Akin was not only "good enough", he was "good". And he was in a viable position. The GOP-E and Republican lemmings screwed the pooch and helped the media bury Akin and cost us the seat. Thank you Rove, Romney, and various big tent acolytes.

Either of the other two candidates would have won the seat, that is why conservatives like the tea parties and governor Palin tried to get the loser to drop out, but his vanity is too great.

Palin did manage to give us our only senate seat pick up that election, and also gave us Ted Cruz.

He didn’t single handedly lose it.

There was a decision by GOPe to work against him.

They used the one comment as an excuse.

So what and who cares. Akin is a stupid and corrupt politician.

“Now that election time is approaching, state-controlled media wants to dredge him up for their never-ending “Republican war on women” extravaganza.”

Yes.

Why does he think MSNBC is having him on?

It ain’t to give him a fair shake and allow him to promote his book.

I hope Sarah Steelman runs again in 2018. I hope the conservatives rally around her early and she wins the primary. Were that to happen, I've no doubt she would win the general, and be a terrific Senator. I'd be pleased to vote for her myself. But this go around, the statistics were stacked against her. That was clear in the primary outcome. The GOP-E brigade should have abstained from helping the media bury Akin. McCaskill felt all she had to do was make popcorn and enjoy the circular firing squad ... and she was right.

Why leave out the conservatives, the tea parties and Palin all trying to get him to drop out? They clearly saw him as losing the race.

I like threads like this.

The GOPe and RINO/CINO’s always out themselves on these threads.

Perhaps that's what actually happened/would have happened. Maybe not. Any possibility SP made a mistake by getting involved in this race?

What would have been the outcome if the GOPe had gotten behind Akin then as fully as other GOPe Senate candidates now...such as Cochran?

Most conservatives asked him to step down as well as the gope. You’re not remembering how many wanted him to step down. They were right, he was a pig to the slaughter.

See post 52, even conservatives saw him as losing the race and wanted him out.

Now here he is again, with that ego of his.

But first he had received enough of the primary votes to be the Republican nominee. Seems to me what happened after he was labelled as stupid is exactly what the Democrats wanted to happen.

And here you are again with an anti-Akin post on FR, with that ego of yours. So what? Let a private citizen be.

You post what you want and I'll post what I want. The man has done enough to my state. I'd like to make sure he doesn't do any more harm.

Sounds as if you may be a threat to Akin's well-being.
