Sir Paul McCartney has become the latest celebrity to call for Scotland to stay as part of the UK before the country's vote on independence next month.
The ex-Beatle made the declaration as the Let's Stay Together campaign sought support in Liverpool on Saturday.

No doubt, but that wasn’t my major concern - IIRC, GB’s Main sub base is in Scotland, and no other base in the UK has comparable facilities. Losing it would be very bad for British sub operations - very bad indeed.
maybe they can pay rent?
Well, ALL the Parties promised them the same.
I love it when the Scottish ‘frugality’ (wink-wink) is displayed.
Wouldn’t surprise me, but still a bad deal, IMO.
This sums it up for the Scots. Mc Cartney seems to be very ignorant(Obama fan)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gApwpSWAhbQ
Scots tend to be very anti-British like Rob Roy, or more English than the English like Ramsay Macdonald or Arthur Conan Doyl.e.
He did more than sing about it, lol. Per Wikipedia, "The song was written in tribute to the picturesque Kintyre peninsula in Scotland, where McCartney has owned High Park Farm since 1966, and its headland, the Mull of Kintyre."
So it could be a good example for the rest of the world?
I understand that. I’ve read enough Tudor history to know the antipathy and hostility both sides have for each other. But how will the Scots manage without all that loot from the British treasury? Scotland has little natural resources and a weak economy.
Hey. old time Scots would rather live on a teaspoon of oats a day, rather than take charity from the English.
why would anyone care what he says
Give.......
(Sing along)
Ireland back to the Irish...
Give Lapland back to the Laps.
Give China back to the Chinese...
Give Yoko back to the Japs.
Fine. You’re probably right. But answer my question please.
“Freedommmmmmm!!!!!!!!”
Robert the Bruce. ..
What? They’ve got a whole chock full of rocks...
For that you will have to ask a Scot. Or an oracle at the Stone of Scone. Because I simply do not know.
And he’s retracting that great hit song of his “Give Ireland back to the Irish.”
I posted before I caught your post! I immediately thought of that stupid ditty.
Sir Paul played in Israel and told whiny no-talent hack Roger Waters to sod off (implied). I don’t think what’s left of the UK would miss the dour Scots, although they would lose a share of the North Sea oil revenue. I don’t think Scotland would be well served by a split, either. Unless they plan to string up George Galloway and the other members of his party...
