An 11-year-old girl was called a hero by neighbors Wednesday after she used a handgun to shoot a man who was attacking her mother.
About 4 a.m. Tuesday, Oklahoma City police were called to a home at 3308 SE 89 and found Brandy Moreno, who said she was stabbed by her ex-boyfriend, Leo Henry.
Police said Henry broke into the house and began to attack Moreno until her daughter, Jayda Milsap, 11, shot Henry twice with a handgun. Henry tried to flee from the home after being shot and was found down the street, police said.

What other tool is there available that is so easy to use, at 11 years old, she was able to take on an adult male with a knife and got it right, I am assuming her first time if she was just shown how to use the gun last week.

If the mother taught the daughter how to defend herself, why weren’t they both emptying their mags into the bastard?
I’m proud of this brave girl. She did what had to be done to protect her mother.
It’s a horrible thing for an 11 year old to have to muster up and do such a thing.
In many ways her childhood ended in that split second when she fired the weapon... Damn that bastard for causing this girl so much pain. :-(

In regards to the question, there likely was only one gun. Who knows. At least it WASN’T locked up AND it WAS loaded; might have been an ‘alternate headline’ otherwise...
I think you got it right but I might add ..Thank God it wasn't locked up, thank God it was loaded, and thank God this 11 year old had access to it.
This also needs to be pointed out..Why didn't she take the gun to school before this incident and shoot the place up?

How soon will CPS come for the kid because mom allowed a gun to be found and used and secondly the daughter will be suspended from school for using a gun.

An earlier thread on this story indicated the mother had a restraining order against the perp and that he had even “abused” her daughter.
That might explain why the girl didn’t hesitate to shoot him and why she shouldn’t feel any remorse.
