News Release October 2, 2014
Out of an abundance of caution, Texas and Dallas County health officials have ordered four close family members of the Dallas Ebola patient to stay home and not have any visitors to prevent the potential spread of disease.
We have tried and true protocols to protect the public and stop the spread of this disease, said Dr. David Lakey, Texas health commissioner. This order gives us the ability to monitor the situation in the most meticulous way.
The local health department had previously instructed the family to stay home, but a strict public health control order is needed to ensure compliance. Ebola is not contagious until symptoms appear. The family members do not have symptoms at this time.
The orders were hand delivered to the family members Wednesday evening by local health officials. The orders legally require the family to stay at home and not have any visitors without approval from the local or state health department until at least Oct. 19. The order is in place until the incubation period has passed and the family is no longer at risk of having the disease.
The order requires the family to be available to provide blood samples and agree to any testing required by public health officials and to immediately report any symptoms to Dallas County Health and Human Services. Symptoms include fever above 100.5 degrees, headache, nausea, diarrhea or abdominal pain.
Texas law allows the state health department and the local health authority to issue control measures to a person who is ill with, has been exposed to, or is the carrier of a communicable disease. (Health and Safety Code §81.083). Control measures by law can include isolation, quarantine and preventive therapy. If a person does not follow these orders, they can be enforced by the courts, and the person can face criminal charges.

I suspect that we will see more of these types of actions over time. With that in mind, please consider your own house. Are you able to “shelter in place” for 3 weeks? If not, better get stocked up.
In addition to food and water storage, consider the following items:
Bleach / Pool shock for disinfectant
Surgical masks
Nitrite gloves
Hand sanitizer
Extra trash bags
UV wand
A small Colorado town, a little less than a century ago, isolated itself to keep the Spanish Flu from decimating its people. As a result, Gunnison weathered the pandemic largely unscathed, while millions and millions died throughout the rest of the nation and the world. No one got off the train in Gunnison, and travelers on the roads into town were turned away. The townspeople survived on their food stores and the plentiful game in the area.
There would be little prospect of any large city or town "going Gunnison" to try to escaped an Ebola pandemic, but some small isolated communities might be able to pull it off.
Because...rayciss.
That means "there is no valid reason".
All of this because of ONE ebola case. Will our idiot leaders learn anything and finally restrict travel to and from affected nations?
We live in a semi rural area NO one sprays for the pest. Both hubby and I have been bitten by some sort of flying insect you don’t hear or see, and ended up on Predisone for the infections.
Then you have flea carrying critters, big cities are rat infested. Despite a Tax on your utility bill to pay for their eradication, they give you a few packets of rat bait. No real effort made to eliminate the vermin. Roaches too.
I have seen plenty of pics from Africa that show them under-dressed compared to CDC & NIH types.
Spraying alone is useless since mosquitoes will never be eradicated. What they did in the case of malaria was find the infected mosquitoes and spray just those areas. Without testing, just spraying is detremintal.
Thank you. The one thing, though, is that Zachary might walk back this statement. He spoke out of turn yesterday, then everyone denied what he said (he said there was a person they thought had Ebola that they were watching)
What is the status of the family? Are they Africans? How long have they lived in the US? Are they employed? Are they a welfare family? Do they have a valid reason for living in the US?
And what will they do to ebola guy’s family if they don’t follow orders? Put them in jail?
Is the family being monitored?
(I’m not saying that the family isn’t doing what they have been asked to do, just want to know how we’ll know that they are.)
?”UV Wand?”
The eighty number isn’t surprising if they are talking about those in direct contact, then those they have been in contact with. It should be more. Either way, only the four family members are being quarantined; the others are being “monitored”. What is the point of monitoring without quarantining them? If they come down with ebola, it’s too late to stop them from having had contact with other people.
I’m old and we were quarantined back in the early 40s because of Scarlet Fever.
A sign was posted on the door also.
.
And if they don’t? We’ll do nothing.
A UV wand is a sanitazation device that generates intense UV light to kill bacteria and germs.
For example:

If they don’t the local authorities will arrest and detain them.
are they being watched by LE? Is someone outside their apt 24/7 making sure they stay inside?
“Now y’all promise to stay right here for a few weeks okay? Don’t go to WalMart or KFC. Don’t open the door for anybody, okay? I suppose you have enough food and toilet paper and such right? We’ll check back in on you in a few weeks, in the meantime you folks just take it easy and enjoy yourselves, okay. If you start running a fever just take the bus to the hospital. Oh, and wash your hands a lot. Good Luck.”
If the chamber of commerce is in charge of republicans no airline will be allowed to not fly out of there so the pubs can’t talk. Of course the airline can act like responsible sane adults on their own but it’s a mess am Bo is the tip of the berg
If you had to ask...
