An inmate at the Cobb County Jail is being tested for the Ebola virus.
The unnamed prisoner, who was arrested overnight at 3 a.m. for DUI and traffic infractions, complained of flu-like symptoms and told authorities that he had recently visited Africa, according to a jail spokesperson.
The area where the inmate was quarantined has been cleaned.
For a brief period, the jail prevented local agencies from bringing inmates to the jail. However, that ban has been lifted.

He may have been just smarting off about being in Africa, but you never know.
It is a good plan for a private cell, fresh beding and an individually served meal. I expect this will become standard across th country very quickly
I would.
If there are no retail workers, what happens? (I think you know, eh?)
This guy is wandering around drunk possibly contaminating everyone and everywhere he goes.
What about his drinking buddies...can he remember where he was so that they can quarantine...give me a break!
Great probably did not want 6o go to jail prefer a nice taxpayer room to “protect” the public -wink wink.
He should have puked in the cop car to show them he was serious.
I really don’t want them to keep reporting on people who “might” have Ebola. Wait until you find out for sure!
Exactly. I'm trying to figure out a way to capitalize on the fact that I was indeed in Africa last month...maybe I can get a free checkup and fix for my sore back or something.
You have a point there. Inmates/incarcerated folks are experts at creating reasons for a break from the same old surroundings. I think if most people knew of the volume of nonsense litigation filed by prisoners (usually alleging civil rights violations by prison guards) they would be shocked. The frivolous suits are filed merely for the day in court, at which the suit is typically dismissed. But, depending on where the prison facility and the court are located, it involves a nice ride in the country and a break from the same old same old. This guy might have been looking to spend time in a hospital for a change of pace, or for an opportunity to escape.
I'm doubtful about a plan.
I hope he's not sick with Ebola. The SwillHTF if he is.
I'm a five hour drive from Atlanta...I will go into isolation if he proves positive for Ebola.
“If this guy has Ebola, how many retail workers will just quit their jobs immediately?”
Now that WOULD be an October Surprise that would affect the election. But you just have to wonder if the GOPE would have the sense to capitalize on it.
The trouble is that the normal person has NO WAY of knowing whether the people they’ve been in contact with were in Africa recently. Ebola starts out like flu; the way to know whether to look more deeply is by the possible connection to somebody who was contaminated. But we have no way of knowing that - and it will be harder and harder as we get more and more illegals here and more and more people exposed to those who HAVE been to west Africa.
It’s looking like the woman who housed Duncan in Dallas lived in Ecuador, according to her FB page. She was in Liberia Aug 10-11th. Now she lives in Dallas and is apparently the “relative” that Duncan was able to get a visa to come visit (though they are not relatives but apparently “partners”). Did she come in the last round of illegals that Holder and Obama held the door open for? How many others like her are there in this country as of now?
This stuff passes in sweat, spit, etc. You touch the same door handle as somebody who has the virus and then wipe your eye before sanitizing your hands with clorox or alcohol, and you can get it.
Yes, people can make up stories about being in Africa and I get your point, but the truth is that none of us knows what connection we have to Africa at this point. Soon EVERY case of flu will require testing for ebola. And the bad thing is that when symptoms first show up false negative results for ebola are very possible - leading to more people who are exposed and don’t even know it.
It was criminal for the regime to let it come to this.
Nurses, especially SEIU members, if you voted for Obama, Hope you like the Change.
You have effectively put yourselves personally at grave risk with your vote.
Hey, that will work whether the guy is sick or not.
Everyone is on edge now about something, ISIS is going to kill our military families, sick and demented foreigners pouring over the southern border, etc.
Everyone has something to be anxious about, eh?
One of these times. . . it will be someone who came here purposefully, with the intent to spread the disease. This account sounds too pat to me.
Just saying.
Get right with Jesus now while you still can. Spread His Word. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ
Well there is one county between Cobb and us but Mr. GG2 and I just decided today to take the mail out of the box with gloves and spray it down front and back with Lysol becauser YOU NEVER KNOW! :-)
BTW, I did a test some years ago...US paper money will survive in a 20% bleach solution for 2 minutes. Do not put US paper money in the microwave oven though...it catches on fire. I did that test too...lol.
Save you pool shock, it works well as a disinfectant.
I wasn’t in Africa last month, but I DID sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
