My county usually puts in GOP for county mayor etc. But lower positions in government in many states do not run on party tickets. Many times the twit running the Zoning Office ones someones cousin in law etc and acts like Barney Fife.

Two signs "USED" to hang in my county courthouse Zoning Office. First one was "what part of no don't you understand". The second one was "if you just spent the last ten minutes complaining spend the next ten seconds leaving".

One guy went in to get a building permit to build his own home himself. The Twits wanted him to fill out a huge FHA form specifying listing how many bricks, boards, nails, etc he was to use. The Zoning Officer was soon relieved of a job.

These type of issues as such aren't party issues. It's just a matter of enough people outraged and raising hell to call their hands on it.

Sad to say the Zoning offices will likely get their wish of the play-set being removed soon enough it sounds like as the charity that donated it is generally for kids who do not likely have long to be around.

you’re playing too -

That's entirely the point of a discussion forum.

All comments are fair game. Don't want a response? Don't post.

Job two is getting the RINOs in line.

And you think we can 'get them in line' by voting them into office?

In our system, you can only vote FOR someone. Doing so, is a positive affirmation of your agreement with, and approval of, said candidate.

The mere act of voting someone into office sends a message of tacit approval of their political agenda. You wouldn't have voted for them if you disagreed with them, right?

Understand that continuing to vote for those you vehemently disagree with, will only cause the party to raise up more of the same sorts of candidates for you to vote for.

The one and only thing that communicates to the political class is votes. Withdraw your vote and they'll soon figure out some way to get it so they can win. Withdrawing our votes will eventually cause them to realize that we're dead serious about not supporting those politicians who don't support the people's vision of America.

It's the only way we'll ever force change upon the political class.

It's STILL true, and even more so today. The only thing that staying home rather than casting a vote for an imperfect Republican has done is GOT MORE DEMOCRATS ELECTED, and those Democrats have turned into the most socialistic, anti-American domestic force we've ever encountered.

My point isn't about imperfect Republicans, it's that voting Republican for the sake of Republican is throwing your vote away given the fecklessness of the party.
After all, how hard (even politically) would it have been to take a stand against the IRS's political targeting? Or the NSA's domestic espionage? — Those are two issues that "moderates" (democrat or republican) and independents would cheer seeing actual action taken on. But nope, the GOP does nothing.

We simply can't afford to increase their numbers! Even the RINOs were reasonable enough to vote against Obamacare.

If they do nothing to stop the Democrats, then how is voting for them going to help?
Seriously, mere incompetence would see better results pursuing platform planks than what we've seen; they are complicit.

It's just a matter of degree.

Nope, it's not.
It's a matter of the Republican party, as a party, bitching and moaning for the camera as they eagerly help the Democrats with their hands — but we've seen theh mask slipping, just look at how eager the Republican party, as a party, is for amnesty.

I would rather have a RINO that votes against me 40 percent of the time, than a Democrat in a majority of Democrats who is guaranteed to vote against me 100 percent of the time. They are determined to push through the rest of their "agenda" in these next two years even if they have to do it illegally. It just has to stop, or we're finished.

You apparently don't understand — the Republican party isn't with you 40% of the time, they're against you 100% of the time.
They are statists! They want to subjugate you.

We can go great guns in '16 on getting the RINOs out, but we may not even get to '16 if we don't stop the insanity in '14. And this IS insanity we've got going here, right now.

RINO? If RINO means Republican In Name Only then people like Ted Cruz are the RINO in that he actually means what he says compared to the rest.
The insanity is thinking that (R) magically makes politicians better than they have proven themselves to be by virtue of their actions.

Interesting that I'm not finding this saga in the local newspaper.

The local newspaper did two previous stories on this family in 2010 - that playset has been there for FOUR (4) YEARS.

1.23.2010: Santa Fe Springs family deals with child's debilitating illness

11.27.2010: Ill Santa Fe Springs girl gets playground of her dreams

Recall, Recall, Recall.

> The city’s rationale for ruining a little girl’s happiness is that the playground area is cluttered and dangerous. Local reporters called shenanigans on that verdict... Torres showed Weingold some of the tickets the city’s issued, calling on the family to remove all items from the backyard and front yard, including all playground equipment. After Weingold approached city officials, they changed their story. Now it’s perfectly fine to keep the personal playground up and running, they said—despite what is explicitly printed on the numerous tickets the Mirandas received for hosting unauthorized fun in the privacy of their own backyard.
