Canadians don’t have rangers
They just don’t learn, do they?
Okay, and..?
I’m not in America.
OK. I am going to throw this out here and catch the arrows that follow.
What if the flight attendent faced termination for violating policies? Should she risk her career to hang a soldier’s dress uniform? It’s not so easy when you take the emotion out of situation.
Did y’all know there is an FAA regulation on coat racks on aircraft?
Canadians are not as apt to lay palm fronds at the feet of their soldiers as they walk by. :)
But we still love our soldiers and what they do.
Re: “He has been wearing the uniform on job interviews across the country while pursuing his dream to become a doctor.”
That doesn’t really make sense to me.
If you want to become a doctor, you need to go to medical school.
Why doesn’t he just stay in the Army, which probably has the best educational benefits of any job in the country?
Technically, he should not have the first class perk of having his coat hung. As a military person, they should have made the exception.
I stopped flying with them a few years back because of situations just like this one.
No sense of customer service and always “thats our policy” when they do some minor, petty thing to make your life miserable.
A couple months ago I needed to get make a quick, unexpected trip and US Air was the only option so I gave them a re try.
Same old, same old.
I think it's a Union mentality thing
I hope you never need first class defense, because very few pay first class taxes and of those that do, even fewer deserve first class defense.
Do you purposely act stupid or did you have to go to college to get that smart? Then I opened the dictionary to the word insufferable and your handle was mentioned.
I looked up original insult and your name came up.
I bought a couple dozen palm fronds, I will fly down to the nearest American city and start laying them down at American soldier’s feet right away.
As someone who flies on international flights a lot on business, I can say that is one perk that is honestly very appreciated. Additionally, it is not such a big thing considering a business ticket for an international flight can cost 3 times that for economy, and first class five times.
You're really serious aren't you?
I once flew with my my sister and brother-in-law and we used a special check in line. But I think it had to do with being a member of some club of the airline or an American Express club........
You guys all assume that these people understand the problem here.
Obviously the flight attendant had no clue.
Obviously flight attendants had gotten their ass chewed for making exceptions.
I think it was a silly and petty move by the Flight Attendant. But I understand the situation. Obviously, she did not.
It’s not WWII. Not everyone has served or knows people who have. Not everyone knows what that medals mean.
You are thinking the flight attendant was being disrespectful. I think she thought she was doing her job as instructed.
Clearly the airlines have some empowerment issues they need to deal with.
My position is not meant to be disrespectful to the soldier in question.
I can understand that he is probably on his way to some function, which is why he was in dress uniform on the plane instead of something more casual or civilian.
I also see it from the stewardesses position as well. People have been known to lose their job doing things like this. How many would have cut the stewardess a cheque, if she had list her job over giving a business class ticket first class privileges?
The only wrong the stewardess did, which is a fair comment imo, was that she didn’t allow a first class passenger to take his jacket for him and hold it until the plane landed.
You are thinking about check in at the airport, not the TSA line.
Airlines are for profit businesses. Bi fly four or five times a year. I fly coach/economy. I am in the 80% of their customers that provide marginal profits. The other 20%, the high value customers are the bread and butter to their company.
Yes, they treat those customers better. And they should.
They get expedited check in. They get pre boarded. They get upgrades. They get free stuff all around. They pay tens of thousands of dollars a year to the airline.
You and me? They make about 5% profit off our $400 ticket. We get treated like the cattle we are. No company is going to go out of their way for a marginal customer.
And if it were not for the guy in the uniform you are bad mouthing you would not have that FREE SPEECH..
