Lincoln Public Schools Superintendent Steve Joel pushed back Thursday against what he said was misinformed reaction to the districts gender identity training by national commentators and news outlets...
Never once has anyone inside our system mandated that a teacher take (the words) boys and girls or ladies and gentlemen out of their interactions with children or interaction with adults. Theres no policy, theres no procedure, theres no changes being made to bathrooms in schools. ...
Among the advice in the handout was to avoid gendered terms like "girls" and "boys" and opt for gender neutral terms such as campers or come up with group names like purple penguins, a term on which national media outlets have focused.
Joel said the handouts were suggestions and strategies, not mandates, about how teachers could reach all students in their classrooms...

In a gender neutral classroom all staff needs to be addressed in a gender neutral manner too. Examples: Mrs. Lopez = Comrade Ellis Mr. Ellis = Amigo Lopez Ms. Noble-French = Teacher Noble-French
That’s further proof that, as a nation, we’ve lost our effing minds.
There are two: boys and girls.
Only liberals could figure out a way to make "Male or Female" an overtly political statement.
Last year in my grandson’s pre-K class, the teacher didn’t use boys and girls, she used “friends”.
“Joel said the handouts were suggestions and strategies, not mandates”
Ah-huh. And of course, there won’t be ANY repercussions for teachers who don’t follow that “advice”, no siree bob.
Oh wait, is “no siree bob” gender exclusive? I’m sorry. I meant to say “no siree purple penguins.”
Wait, I can’t say “siree”, either. People of the intersex persuasion might find that evidence of patriarchy or something. Gosh, being gender inclusive is hard!
/This country has lost its dang mind.
Educators are nut jobs for the most part.
The coefficient of usefulness in a public school system ranges from 1 (for beginning teachers) to 0.25 (for principals) to 0 for superintendents.
There is no more useless slug of slime in the multiverse than a superintendent.
Not sane. These people should not have access to children
I remember the days when girls wore dresses and boys wore slacks. I remember the days when girls wore pony tails and boys used butch wax. I remember being warned to be extra careful around public restrooms because that is where perverts liked to hang out.
I remember my first kiss as a young boy, her name was Linda and she was a girl with blonde curls in her soft flowing hair. She smelled like soap.
I remember riding my bicycle all over town and down the country roads.... and I remember the wonderful smell of my leather baseball mitt.
I remember never having any doubt, I always knew I was a boy. I never needed anyone to teach me that I was different than a girl, although my parents often reminded me that I needed to always be a gentleman and to treat girls with respect.
Today, I remember and sorely miss the simple days of yesteryear.
Lincoln?

etc.
Nebraska.
Amen to that!!
I don’t understand the objection by liberals to calling kids “boys and girls”.
Even if you want to say that some are “gay” or “trans-whatever”, everybody is still either male or female.
Thus, the term “boys and girls” is completely inclusive. So why the need to call everyone purple penguins so as to be inclusive????
basically that is true...there are , however, a VERY few with both male and female genetalia...hermaphrodites I believe....I don't have any idea of how they sort that out.
