The Worst Of The Ebola Outbreak Is Yet To Come

The Economist
October 18, 2014

On March 25th the World Health Organisation (WHO) reported a rash of cases of Ebola in Guinea, the first such ever seen in west Africa. As of then there had been 86 suspected cases, and there were reports of suspected cases in the neighbouring countries of Sierra Leone and Liberia as well. The death toll was 60.

On October 15th the WHO released its latest update. The outbreak has now seen 8,997 confirmed, probable and suspected cases of Ebola. All but 24 of those have been in Guinea (16% of the total), Sierra Leone (36%) and Liberia (47%). The current death toll is 4,493. These numbers are underestimates; many cases, in some places probably most, go unreported.

This all pales, though, compared with what is to come. The WHO fears it could see between 5,000 and 10,000 new cases reported a week by the beginning of December; that is, as many cases each week as have been seen in the entire outbreak up to this point. This is the terrifying thing about exponential growth as applied to disease: what is happening now, and what happens next, is always as bad as the sum of everything that has happened to date.

Exponential growth cannot continue indefinitely; there are always barriers. In the previous 20 major outbreaks of the disease since its discovery in 1976, all of which took place in and around the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the initial rapid spread quickly subsided. In the current outbreak, though, the limits have been pushed much further back; it has already claimed more victims than all the previous outbreaks put together.

Grim reckoning

This Ebola variant seems to have an outlier incubation period that has WHO et al fooled.

WHO is recommending 42 days now. CDC is stuck at 21 days.

HIV and EBOLA: How Political Correctness Will Get You Killed!
The ongoing – and expanding –Ebola situation and how it’s being handled (or, more accurately, NOT being handled) has a parallel with the HIV panic of a number of years ago.
It may ALSO be another manifestation of the schizophrenic nature of the hard leftists who unfortunately sit at the levers of power in this country and whose double-mindedness should now be clear to all but the dullest among us.
Allow me to explain.
A San Francisco (where else?) based and HIV infected “leader”of the homosexual community began a serious campaign encouraging fellow HIV carriers to attempt to bypass or defeat the donor screening process and actively donate into the national blood supply. When pressed as to his justification for jeopardizing the entire nation, he declared that if HIV spread out into the “straight” community, it would almost certainly catalyze and accelerate the search for a vaccine.
Am I the only “conspiracy buff” to see the similarities between that and what’s going on today vis-a-vis Ebola?
I hadn’t thought about this angle until I heard Rush recently ranting about some author who’d written that because Liberia was founded by former slaves who returned to Africa, it was our unfortunate institution of slavery that is directly responsible for Ebola in the western nations of Africa. (Please note that I stop FAR short of the recent utterances of Calypso Louie Farrakan who claims that Ebola was created by evil white men to kill blacks!)
But I digress. That reasoning that America is responsible for Ebola – if it can be called “reasoning” – holds that it is America’s place to come to their rescue with a “cure”. And how better to “catalyze and accelerate” that process than to INFECT as many native born Americans HERE with the disease as possible?
Now here’s where the schizophrenia comes into the picture:
There is a growing group of folks who believe that the earth cannot support the current population approaching 7.3 billion. The bulk of them are in the same leftist camp as those now directing the present halfhearted “effort” against Ebola. Many of them are one and the SAME people directing the Ebola thing! The most radical of them embrace the words of a speaker at an early green movement/save-the-earth rally in California. Odd coincidence that, aye? He declared that “Man is the ultimate DISEASE of nature.” He got a standing O for that line!
From that meeting and others still being conducted, the greenies now believe that the 7.3 billion MUST be reduced to around 1 billion or less. And which members of which nations, ethnic groups or races are “eliminated” is irrelevant – so long as THEY are excluded!
Scriptures informs us that “A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.” The writer must have known a fair number of the leftists of his day.
Back to my question.
If, on one hand, the leftists are sincere in their effort to SAVE THE EARTH from overpopulation, why would they attempt to save the victims of Ebola and allow them to come here?
Could it be that allowing them to come here with the disease (and sending 3,000 potential military carriers THERE to bring it back with them) while portraying these actions to the noinfo masses as the compassionate thing to do is part of the same scheme attempted earlier by the HIV crowd?
I suggest that we prepare ourselves for the spread of the this 60% to 90% fatal disease among the population of this nation. (This may have been the reason for the Homeland Security “drills” about some “zombie apocalypse”.) This IS, after all, the same America that is hated by Obama and the One World leftists now in control here as the source of every evil committed in the rest of the world and for which evils it must be properly punished?
Do I really think these miscreants – living in their sanitized and safe gated “compounds” — would do that?
After witnessing 6 years of this gang’s criminal behavior, I absolutely think that!

PS: With respect to the controversy concerning ebola’s ability to be “airborne”, last time I checked the stuff that is emitted from one’s nasal passages during a sneeze is mucosa (the polite word for snot) and, inasmuch as it came from the body, I suspect it would qualify as a “bodily fluid”.
Given that, does it not follow that if another person were to catch one of those sneezes full in the face, eyes, nose, mouth or somewhere else where an opening in the skin were present, the virus could be introduced into that person’s body?

You're just going to have to catch Ebola to find out what's in it.

The worse case scenario is if/when Ebola breaks out in some Central American hell hole and rapidly spreads out of control, with a subsequent surge of the infected for the open southern U.S. border that Obama has mandated. With hundreds or even thousands of Ebola-infected Central Americans melting invisibly into the U.S. hoping for free cures, we’ve then entered “The Stand” phase for our country.

If/when you see Ebola in Central American then that’s the signal to start prepping if you haven’t already, because the only way to stop our country from total doom is to station our military along our southern border with orders to shoot to kill, and we all know Obama would rather see the U.S. go up in flames than take such necessary action.

Recent Seminar at Johns Hopkins on Wed, pronounced there would be no way to contain the infection to below 16,000 in the next 6 weeks, with it doubling every 3 weeks.

The numbers being reported in the stricken regions are unduly low because there aren't any reliable sources left to take the count. Too many counting have died from the disease and those remaining are avoiding the likely areas of infestation.

Actual numbers may be 2-10X those being reported, but definitely not less, and generally thought to be under-reported by a factor of 2.5.

The number of documented beds in use for the disease in Africa is believed to be about 10% of the total cases in the area.

From the CDC reports: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/su6303a1.htm?s_cid=su6303a1_w

Freq is # of cases per 5000 patients.

He’s already tested the system to place protocols for shipping the immigrants throughout the US for maximum dispersal of contagions. He wants us all catch it as quickly as possible in the next 9 months.

If there is any justice in this world that psychotic bitch would be among the first to get it and be forced to use Obamacare.

I wonder if the two nurses who became infected have Obamacare. And who’s picking up the tab because of that bastard Duncan? And will Obamacare cover the little people if Ebola goes pandemic?

As long as people in infected areas go about their normal lives, mating like bunnies, it will spread like wildfire.

I suspect they are still washing and kissing the people that die from Ebola in many areas.

As people are cycled out of hot zones, do they (West Africa, DOD, airlines, etc) keep each quarantined individual in a SEPARATE room, apt. or house?

Housing a person who is Ebola-symptom free at "20 days" into the quarantine period with a Newbie (just arrived, 1 days into quarantine) -- like in one, big "room" or housing unit would not be smart.................

Nobody's answering these freaking questions.

They seem fairly fundamental.

It's maddening!!

Congress needs to call a special session to stop this. Stop allowing people from West Africa to fly to the USA, finally seal off our Mexican border with the National Guard, and do everything else that best practices say we should do. Let Obola veto the bill on his desk. This idiot is going to get a lot of innocent Americans killed. This isn’t “funny” anymore.

Simple question...
There were Ebola outbreaks before but they had been contained ..Now comes this outbreak...

How did the fist victim in this outbreak get Ebola?

How could he/she catch it from another person if the disease had died out?
