There is no single change or law that will eliminate every act of gun violence, but there are proven, common sense measures we can take to protect our families and make our communities safer. For example, here in Oregon, we don't require criminal background checks for all gun sales like those that happen online. Dangerous and/or violent convicted criminals easily exploit this loophole to buy guns from strangers online anonymously, and with no questions asked.

Time for Oregon to do something about that pesky Bill of Rights. Go for it idiots!
Bottom line: NOTHING will deter a person who is hell-bent on murder. There are MANY, many ways to kill and a killer WILL find a way.
AT LEAST one ought to have the right to protect oneself--to have some protection in one's left chest pocket.
“but there are proven, common sense measures..”
NO!....There are NOT!
Sorry for her loss, also...but, axes, knives, and hands, etc kill also...it’s the PERSON who does the killing. Corvallis, Oregon City Council is about to vote on a NO GUNS policy...not sure what it is, other than stupid.
Illegal aliens, protected by politicians, commit a disproportionate number of crimes in oregon. There is your target lady.
The Parliament shooter in Canada was legally prohibited from owning guns, in a country with the kind of laws this nimrod pines for. He still was able to get a gun, and was only stopped by another man with a gun.
Criminals don't obey gun laws. Gun control only controls the law-abiding.
What, she doesn’t like “undocumented gun owners”?
Time to react, emotionally, to a phenomenally known-inaccurate MSM dedicated to evincing emotional reaction; for no other purpose than to grow dwindling circulations/readerships/viewerships.
Time to react (emotionally) to the tired “Now is the time” rhetoric designed to whip up enthusiasm over a single or otherwise rare incident rather than to address society-wide problems of economic insecurity and national problems, such as the importation of debilitating diseases or terrorism; due to incompetence or deliberate ignorance of obvious border integrity issues. Or the importation of millions of disinterested if not hostile people from all over the world, the great majority of whom have no interest nor respect for existing American culture or values.
Time to assert, once and for all, the groundless assumption that the speaker occupies a superior moral stance on any issue.
No, it’s time to stuff a rag in your mouth and stop thinking you have any sort of wisdom that would qualify you to tell other people what to do and how to live.
And every one of them are the exact opposite of what you suggest.
And, much to their dismay, I read this morning that it wasn’t an evil super powerful assault weapon that he used. It was just one of those less powerful pop gun 30-30 lever action rifles. Liblogic. .223 uber powerful. 30-30, just some underpowered cowboy gun. DUH!!!! didiots.
Criminals buy nature don’t bother going Thu background checks anyway, and usually don’t buy the guns they commit crimes with they steal them.
They can pass any law they want only one sort of person will be incline to follow it and it won’t be the criminal sort who will as easily ignore that law as they ignore every other.
The gun control crowd has tried every single argument they can and has found out that people are too smart for their pass this silver bullet law and it will all be better (large magazines, assault weapons ban, longer waiting periods, gun registration, close the gun show loop hole that isn't there...etc.) arguments.
Now it is we need to to lots of laws and hopefully each will make things a little better, although it may take generations to reduce the number of firearms and hence reduce the firearms available to criminals.
It is a logic that seems to be working in WA State just to the north in the marketing of an 18+page initiative that will create chaos for people who own firearms and want to remain legal.
Here is their “Messaging Guide”:

Just in case you haven’t seen it. Share as needed if you wish.
“On average, 86 people are killed by guns each day in America.” No. They are killed by criminals intent on committing violence.
“Dangerous and/or violent convicted criminals easily exploit this loophole to buy guns from strangers online anonymously, and with no questions asked.” No. The majority of criminals obtain their guns by illegal means. Most private gun owners either sell guns to people that they personally know or sell them through a licensed dealer even with online sales.
“In fact, research by Everytown for Gun Safety has found that in some states as many as one in every 10 people seeking to buy a gun from a private seller online are prohibited, meaning they are convicted rapists, domestic abusers and people who have assaulted police officers.” First, this statement assumes that the current background check would stop a criminal from obtaining a gun which is questionable at best. The use of straw buyers & falsified ID’s has already defeated the background system. And that is only a concern if the criminal is even entered in that system in the first place.
Next, we can safely assume any study done by Everytown for Gun Safety is biased. How would they even be able to track online sales of anything?
“When I first got involved in this movement to reduce gun violence, I was told that it would take some time to make any changes. Well, time has certainly passed.” Or we could use that time to take personal responsibility by learning to protect ourselves. Of course, it is easier to wait on politicians and blame Republicans.
“Until they do, what happened to me and my family is only going to happen again... and again, until our leaders make changes.” No. These criminal acts will continue until we learn to focus on stopping criminals instead of guns and people learn to protect themselves rather than waiting for the government to do it for them.
Naturally, this young woman never mentions that the Clackamas Mall shooter was confronted by a legal gun owner causing the shooter to run away & then commit suicide shortly thereafter. Fortunately, the legal gun owner in this case chose to ignore the policies of the Clackamas Mall which prohibit the carrying of firearms on their premises. I also noticed that the Oregonian neglected to mention the heroic gun owner who was instrumental in stopping this shooter or the fact that this shooting occurred in a gun free zone.
I strongly suggest that anyone interested in learning the truth about this criminal shooting and other highly publicized shootings visit the Gun Owners of America website at http://gunowners.org.
Here is how “they” are learning to “message” the issue in case you didn’t see my previous reply. If you take the time to read through it, you’ll find some of their statements and rhetoric simply absurd. But to too may people, symantics work very well. If there overall goal isn’t to disarm law abiding citizens, why would they need a guide to mislead people?

Thank you for bringing the messaging guide to my attention. I have seen that guide. The communists long ago learned that you can easily seduce people into believe lies by using well-established marketing and public relations techniques to frame issues. Unfortunately, conservatives have been very slow to learn this approach. For example, we tend to assume that simply presenting facts will counter the above approach which is often untrue sadly. We have to learn that how we frame issues is just as important as the facts that we present.
These liberals think criminals get their guns from gun shops. Idiots.
I'm sorry, but this is a lie. Online purchase of firearms means (1) that shipment must be from a Federal Firearms License holder to another FFL holder, and (2) that the receiving holder must do exactly the same paperwork, background check, etc, as his or her state requires of an in-person sale, before turning the gun over to the purchaser. This "anonymous online sales" meme is utter garbage.
I don’t see any numbers that show how many guns purchased through this “loophole” end up in the hands of violent criminals. The reason is the connection cannot be made. BTW-freedom is not a “loophole”.
