The Old Playbook Backfires on Democrats

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: We've got Democrats apparently running away from Dingy Harry. We've got the War on Women not working in Colorado in the Cory Gardner race and this Udall character.

The theory behind the War on Women not working, and there's a reason why it isn't, and it's because of something that Gardner's done. But the media is saying that the reason that the War on Women campaign theme, the Democrats have had success with it, the reason it's not working is because single women, who are the targets of the War on Women, don't turn out in midterm elections.

That's the kind of thing I mean when I talk about clarity, single women, and they are, by the way. I mean, the Democrat Party depends big time on single women, unmarried women. Could be divorced. And they apparently, CNN has discovered, somebody's discovered, they don't vote in the midterms. Oh, no. It's a little bit late to drum up their interest, and so the War on Women may be fizzling as a campaign issue in Colorado, probably everywhere.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: There's a story out of Louisiana that Mary Landrieu can't get the black vote to turn out. Let me see, did I print this out? I think I did. Do I have it right here? Yes, I do. "In Louisiana, 95% of Obama 2012 Black Voters Skip Early Voting."

National Review Online: "Louisiana senator Mary Landrieu and state Democrats have convinced less than 15,000 of the 269,000 black voters, or about 5.5%, who usually do not vote in midterms to cast their ballot in the early-voting period so far." I mean, the reason for early voting is for the Democrats to have an advantage, and in Louisiana they haven't even persuaded the black vote to turn out.

Only 5%.

I'm sorry, this isn't going to be made up on Election Day.

They don't have enough buses. They don't have enough walking around money. Whatever it is they use to get this turnout, they don't have enough of it. Only 5%. Let's get some other information. The Washington Free Beacon has a report: "A new ABC/Washington Post poll shows that 60% of voters have little or no trust in the federal government to do what is right, while 63% say government's ability to deal with problem has worsened.

"ABC’s Jon Karl said problems for Democrats go beyond just a presidential approval rating, because 'a far larger percentage blame the White House and Democrats in Congress than they blamed Republicans.'" Voters are in "a sour mood." Voters, in a 63% majority, say Obama has made government worse. The headline of the Washington Post story is, "Poll: Midterm Momentum Belongs to GOP."

Think about this: Think about the millions and millions of hours and the millions and millions of dollars spent trashing Republicans that has been going on for whatever period of time you want to judge. The last decades, the last 10 years, the last five years, the last six months, whatever time period you want to categorize. Think about all the money. Think of the coordinated media. Think of the ads.

Think of all the commentary analysis on cable TV trashing the Republicans front back left and right, War on Women, racist, sexist, bigot, homophobes -- and with Republicans not saying a word about anything! Amidst all this, here we got Obama promising to do amnesty. Here we got Obamacare out there promising all these great benefits supposedly just waiting to implement.

Despite all of that, 63% in a Washington Post poll say they're in a sour mood and that Obama has made government worse. There are little gems here that if we want to glom onto them, we can. One of them is this: We're no longer required to try to persuade people by predicting to them what will happen if Democrats continue to win. Back in the early days of this program, that was a constant feature.

"If the Democrats win, X is gonna happen. If they keep winning, this is gonna happen. Here's what the Democrats are. This is what they believe. This is what the country's gonna become." Twenty-five years later, it's not a theory anymore. It's not a prediction anymore. People are living it. For the last six years -- and if you want to count Democrat control of the House since 2006, eight years -- you can see it. People have hands on experience.

They're living the experience with Democrats running government. Now, this poll, don't misunderstand. I'm not saying there's been a sea change. See, this is the problem, because in two years they could forget all about this, and by the time 2016 comes along, feel it's safe to vote Democrat again. That's been the pattern. We've seen this before. Democrats goof it up every time they get in charge.

Democrats make a mess every time they get in charge. This just happens to be the worst it's ever been because we've never had this committed an ideologue in the White House. It's never been worse than it is now, but they always gum up the works. They always screw up the economy. The Democrats always ruin the job market. They just make huge messes of things implementing their ideas, and they lose elections.

But then after a while people forget it and feel it's safe to go back and vote for 'em again. So this time we would hope... Doubt it. We would hope that people will remember. Here you have the biggest Democrat ever -- The Messiah, Barack Hussein Obama -- who was finally, after centuries, trying the answer. And six years in, 63%, say he has made government worse.

Oh, if that only has some staying power. But, you see, in order for that to have staying power, the opposing party is going to have to step up at some point and tell people why Obama has made government worse. And they're gonna have to explain: It's not specifically Obama. It's what Obama and everybody like him believe. It's their policies! It's everything they hold dear that has made government worse.

Explain why, so that someday this has long-lasting meaning rather than just impact on one election. Have I made myself clear on that? This... (ringing) Is that your phone or mine? (interruption) It can't be my phone because it's muted in here and nobody calls me anyway, so it had to be your phone. I heard a phone on IFB. But don't worry. I haven't lost my place.

This is such a golden opportunity! Sixty-three percent in the Washington Post think Obama's made the government worse, and that's just one story. In another story, "House Democrats Fret Debilitating Losses." This is Politico: "The political environment continues to deteriorate for House Democrats ahead of a midterm election that’s certain to diminish their ranks.

"With President Barack Obama’s unpopularity hindering their candidates and Republican cash flooding into races across the country, Democrats are increasingly worried that the election will push them deep into the minority and diminish their hopes of winning back the majority in 2016 or beyond. Looking to contain the damage, Democrats are pumping money into liberal congressional districts that were long thought to be safely in their column.

"Over the last several days, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee," in addition to continuing to lie about me, "has directed resources to maintain seats in Hawaii and Nevada, both of which broke sharply for the president in 2012..." Anyway, that's that poll. Then there's another. "CNN Poll: Voters are Angry." This is an entirely different poll. Three different polls today show basically the same thing.

Nearly 70% of Americans "are angry at the direction the country is headed," and 53% disapprove of Obama. They didn't say 70%, by the way. They say, "Nearly 7 in 10 Americans are angry..." That doesn't carry nearly the weight as 70% would carry. "The CNN/ORC poll shows that 30% of Americans are 'very angry' and 38% are 'somewhat angry' about the way things are going in the country, while 31% expressed 'no anger' at all.

"CNN Polling Director Keating Holland notes the 31% of 'very angry' Americans matches the mood of the country in 2010 when Republicans took back control of the House" of Representatives. CNN reports the War on Women isn't working. "How the 'War on Women' is Changing."

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I got an e-mail, I checked during the break. "You're being too negative about this election, Rush. The Democrats, this could be a sea change." Folks, I hope it is, but look at this story out of New Orleans, Mary Landrieu. Ninety-five percent of Obama 2012 black voters skip early voting. And most of them probably won't vote.

Now, that's good in the sense they're not voting for Democrats, but they're not voting. They're not experiencing a change in thinking. They're just mad at the Democrats. This does not mean they've accepted the Republicans. They're just ticked off at Mary Landrieu or whoever. We gotta be honest about this. There are gonna be a lot of people voting for Republicans this time around, but it's a protest vote. I mean, the Republicans are not really offering anything about who they are. I'm not complaining about it. I know their strategy is to shut up. The other side is committing suicide.

But at some point there has to be some teaching going on. These people have to be told why they're mad. It's gonna have to be explained to them, "Okay, you think Obama's made government worse? Let me tell you why you're right. Here's why, bam," and then start telling them. But we don't because we're afraid that we're gonna be called racists. You know the drill.

So you gotta keep everything in perspective. That's why it's a golden opportunity. It's the same thing with this Mrs. Clinton business. The Democrats are in peril here because of the base they've created and the demands that base puts on Democrat candidates. And that message is dead duck city for them. Proof? Hillary walking back this comment.

“I know their strategy is to shut up. The other side is committing suicide.”

What is that saying about, “Don’t help your enemy when he is destroying himself”?

Popcorn...! LOL

I buy popcorn by the case. We collected and processed our english walnuts this last weekend. We have several jars of Planters peanuts. This week we will be processing our sunflower plants.

My wife will pick a few more apples and make me fresh apple pie, that will last me for several days. I am a diabetic, so I have to eat it slowly. ;>)

I am so very, VERY ready!!!!!!

The way I heard it was with Napoleonic irony, "If your enemy is in the process of destroying himself, do not interfere."

“If your enemy is in the process of destroying himself, do not interfere.”

Yes, I think that is it. Thank you. ;-)

I think you are going to see the rats holding the senate. Maybe gain 1 seat.

Why? They are phoning it in. It’s their tell. Obama did it during the debates because he already knew so why bother? The rats in the senate are treating this the same way.

Add in the “calibration errors” and you don’t need a lot of voters. You just need a lot of pre marked ballots and a big trunk.

“You just need a lot of pre marked ballots and a big trunk.”

And, of course, the Progressive-supporting, revolutionary scu&bags to put all that into motion.

IMHO

I agree with you. I was simply trying to remember the quotation.

I hope the voters slaughter the Rats... Every Senator, every Congress critter. God give the GOP 70 Senate seats, so proceedings against The Impostor can begin on Jan. 3rd, and full revelation of his cabal’s vast crimes can begin.

Agree.

(And if it wouldn’t be too much to ask, as part of that full revelation, I’d like to find out the truth behind the BC. I am still really curious about exactly what it is that he’s hiding and/or lying about. I’d like the main focus to be on punishing and jailing these people for their crimes and don’t want to get sidetracked from that, but it seems to me that one of 0vomit’s first crimes as president was very likely that he ran for an office he was not eligible to hold.)

Exactly. It may turn out that he’s still a naturalized citizen of Indonesia. And a Moslem jihadi with friends in all the wrong places. And a lifetime hard-core Stalinist and sworn, deadly enemy of the United States and its people.
