New York Ebola doctor 'LIED to police about his travel': They found out from his MetroCard
The Daily Mail ^ | October 29, 2014 | Chris Pleasance

The doctor currently being treated for Ebola in New York lied to police about travelling around the city for six days before he was quarantined, it has been revealed.

Dr Craig Spencer initially told officers that he had isolated himself in his Harlem apartment after returning from Guinea where he had been treating people for the illness.

It was only when cops checked his MetroCard and bank statement that they realised he had been roaming the city for nearly a week, visiting a sandwich shop, taking an Uber cab, and going bowling.

It was only when officers rang Dr Spencer and confronted him with the evidence that he confessed, according to the New York Post.

He was screened for Ebola on arrival, but reported no symptoms and tests did not detect a trace of the deadly virus. That statement would seem to indicate that the test for the virus is either not very sensitive or the false negative rate for it is too high. In either case, the American public is at risk. Remember that "the test" showed Dr. Craig Spenser not to have a trace of the virus yet he came down with Ebola which may yet kill him. Nurse Kaci Hickox was also tested and shown (according to her) not to have a trace of the virus. The two nurses who caught Ebola while treating Thomas Duncan in Dallas (Nina Pham and Amber Vinson) have been tested and shown to be "free of the virus". It would seem to me that we need a new more sensitive test with a lower false negative rate.

I just watched an interview with the nurse in Maine. She’s so obviously an Obola spokes-person that it made me want to barf.

Blood tests for Ebola typically do not detect the virus until the onset of symptoms, or even two or three days afterwards. That has been well known for a long time.

We're going to go with self-quarantine.

It has a proven record of accomplishing exactly what we want.

Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your......

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Nina is different from the rest

A true spirit filled believer will do the right thing and will be horrified if someone suggests doing otherwise

I expect so.

I suppose one could hope she was still contagious when the occupier of the White House demanded her presence for a photo-op.

What the he11 is an "Uber Cab"?

No, I don't live anywhere near Noo Yawk city, and I don't even go to tyrannical states like that unless I don't think I can refuse and keep my job.

I figured someone would get in a huff. Oh well. That’s been my experience with the PCVs I’ve known. Habitat for Humanity kids, too. Similar mindset. Par for the course for young people.

Uber is an online service where regular people use their personal vehicles to chauffeur people around.

Check out the pictures at the Daily Mail posting. In the picture of the doctor smiling in his hazmat suit, you can see the photographer in the mirror behind the doctor—and that photographer is NOT in any protective gear, not even gloves. In fact, he’s in short sleeves! Can we say posed picture?

And in the picture of the poor cleanup crew at his apartment, they’re wearing only gloves and they’re in short sleeves, no hazmat for them!! Ironic that the Tshirt of one of them says “death from above—airborne”. Might be more honest to say “death all around us and yes, it is airborne!”

Someone must have told those two that working with Doctors without Borders would get them a cushy doctor job in the city.
