HALLOWEEN: SPOOKY CLASSICAL MUSIC

BEETHOVEN: “GHOST” TRIO

Beethoven wrote his two Opus 70 trios for piano, violin and cello at age 38 in the fullness of his art. The second trio in E-flat is laid back, but the first in D Major, known as the “Ghost” Trio because of its spooky second movement, is an edgy piece.

The second movement is in D minor, the Viennese key of death, and Beethoven marks it Largo assai ed espressivo, which means “Keep it as slow as you can but with expression.” The chromatic passage on the piano at the end (9:02) sounds like someone walking over your grave.

The three-finger hand in that graphic you use reminds me of the three-fingered hands of the creatures in “Cowboys and Aliens”. Those creatures even had a second pair of hands next to their hearts, and they had to open their carapace to get to them.

True story...
After seeing An American Werewolf in London, I came home and took my Sheltie out for a walk.

Back then, I lived alone after being separated from my first husband.
I lived in a remote log cabin situated near a pond.
While we were out walking, I heard a sound kind of like a sigh..and then it got louder and then, **CRACK!**
I backed up, a tree branch poked me in the back, but at the time, I thought it was a person.

I took off like a shot, man..Carl Lewis couldn’t have caught me!

It was just the ice cracking on the pond.
My sheltie came trotting home looking at me as if to say..”What’??
