Happy Election Day everyone! I figured I'd go ahead and get the election day thread started. Polls open on the east coast in a little less than an hour.
Please be sure to post observations of interest if you went to the polls today.
NY Times: President Obama says the Democrats were doomed from the start.
Mr. Obama, calling in to a Hartford radio show on Tuesday as voters across the country were casting their ballots, had the distinct sound of a man preparing to rationalize a major defeat. His party started with a historic disadvantage, the president argued in the interview with WNPR, noting that many of the Senate seats up for grab this year are in states unfriendly to Democrats.
“This is probably the worst possible group of states for Democrats since Dwight Eisenhower,” Mr. Obama said, conceding aloud a reality that his closest advisers have long noted in private.
“There are a lot of states that are being contested where they just tend to tilt Republican, and Democrats are competitive, but they tend to tilt that way,” Mr. Obama said.
It was a striking comment for a president who first gained prominence nationally in a speech a decade ago in which he savaged “pundits” who “like to slice and dice our country into red states and blue states.”

Hate to interrupt the ongoing dispute but I cast my straight Repub ticket just now in Todd Young’s district and noticed the total count there near twice what it was the last mid-term election and this is really out in the boondocks.

if you vote for the lesser of two evils - then you still voted for evil. You people need to get a moral compass and stop trying to defend continually putting rinos in. You guys are like the blacks of the GOP - stay on the plantation!!!

I was voter #256 at 8:30 in rural Guilford County, NC. A lot of white and grey hair. Parking lot full, more voting machines than last time, so people were being processed quickly. Several nicely-dressed, well-spoken gentlemen handing out cards showing conservative candidates. First rate 6x8 glossy stock, multi-color, both sides. Someone cared enough to do a really nice job. Included judges and the various clerks. Kudos to the group that put that together.
There is not a dimes worth of difference between a liberal and a purist conservative.

I forgot to mention there were some redneck guys on ATVs passing out peppermints in the parking lots too - they mumbled something to us it was hard to tell with the smokeless terbacky in their moufs.
If the person can hit 80%, the traditional figure? Great. If they can’t, then why bother. All these people screaming purity think that 1 in 5 liberal votes is too high a bar.
Regardless of what I or they say, we get what we vote for. And all the rhetoric does not change that fact.

While there were millions of fraudulent votes cast in ‘12, there really were 4+ million conservatives who sat it out. Looks like they’re getting off the couch today!
Who I voted for doesn’t matter because we both lost. Had the conservative won, we’d have a conservative president. Had Romney won, the GOP would be more liberal than it is. I voted for a conservative. I did my part to advance conservatism. you failed to do the same. thats your call.
