Anthony Gray, the lawyer representing Michael Browns family, said on CNN today that by declaring a state of emergency, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is preparing for war in Ferguson and could be inviting anger with that very action he took to try to quell it should the grand jury decide not to charge Officer Darren Wilson.
Nixon ordered the state of emergency because of concerns over expanded unrest as a result of a grand jury announcement. It is a likelihood at this point that the grand jury will not charge Wilson for Browns death, which already raised some concerns about violence erupting in the community.
Gray told Tapper today that the real message of the state of emergency is that hes preparing for war and not necessarily for peace by taking such drastic measures and bringing in the National Guard. Sometimes, he said, you can push people into behaving a certain way just by preparing for just that kind of a reaction.
The grand jury is expected to announce a decision any day now.

‘Tis the season for it, that’s sure.
Sell Missouri to Africa for cheap...Fence it off, NY, CA too.
Is this OK?
Innocent people might get hurt. If I had any friends or family near that town, I’d invite them to come stay with me until calm returns.
In addition to potential bodily harm, I feel sorry for folks with businesses and livelihoods that might be damaged.
No, not all blacks are part of the problem. But the dead man’s parents certainly seem to be part of the problem.
Trayvette was a BadGirl, dude.
When is black America finally going to realize how it has been cynically politically used.
all that Purple Drank drove him or her of WHATEVER .. WAY over the edge...evidently
A photo of some peaceful tea partiers at a protest surrounded by SWAT comes to mind.
How come the tea partiers didn’t start rioting because of the presence of the SWAT?
So say I am a mom. My kid gets on a crazy bender with pot or whatever, and in the sequence of affairs he tries to wrestle a gun from a cop and gets killed in that unwise altercation. So what am I going to do, of course I am going to socialize it to the entire world!
It’s difficult to believe she could come up with that idea without something really evil, baleful leaning on her.
I just tried to explain to my 12-year-old what this crap in Ferguson. He kind-of understands.
A tip for Nixon: if Crump’s pals oppose it, you’re doing the right thing. There’s nothing they’d like more than to have LE paralyzed by political correctness at the crucial moment.
He’s just old enough to begin to understand crazy-mad. Except these are 19 plus year olds who should have learned better.
They are in love with the power of rage.
EBT cards should be programed to purchase only hard liquor.
Easy answer: Never
Translation:
“We would have behaved peacefully until your preparations provoked us into behaving violently.”
Of course, if the authorities do not prepare, the complaint would then be that their negligence in failing to prepare invited the resulting violence.
Got to find that “Goldilocks” zone of just enough preparation. When you do, you will be met with just enough violence to satisfy the protesters without there being excessive amounts of property damage, injury, or loss of life.
Perfect. Just how do you compute that? And how do you keep the protestors from moving the goal posts?
The day before the second Rodney King verdict, I was in line at a Culver City gun store waiting to buy ammo. This black guy showed up, pushed past half a dozen of us to the front of the line, and demanded to be waited on. When the owner politely asked him to wait in line until those ahead of him could be served, he started screaming about how “whitey” was trying to deny him the right to defend himself. No amount of reassurance that he’d be able to buy his ammo once it was his turn would calm him down. It’s a hugely irrational rage.
It is, also, fairly rare. We were getting this whole build-up then, too, and the actual activity was about the same as we got when the Lakers won a title.
This is more than a chip on the shoulder. It is the entire Frito Lay factory.
But recent immigrants from Africa rarely seem to have such trouble
and most "African-Americans" would be lost in Africa.
