The states challenging President Obamas deportation amnesty have already won the first round in court after the case landed in the lap of Judge Andrew S. Hanen, a Bush appointee who issued a scorching rebuke to the Department of Homeland Security last year, accusing it of refusing to follow border security laws.
It could hardly have been a worse outcome for Mr. Obama, who, in order to preserve his policy, will now have to convince a judge who is on record calling his previous, less-extensive nondeportation policies dangerous and unconscionable.
Led by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, the 20 states challenging the new policy filed their case in Brownsville. It could have gone to one of two judges the other a Clinton appointee but it landed in the lap of Judge Hanen last week, putting Mr. Obama on the defensive early.

Being a Bush appointee is no guarantee the judge will rule in favor of the states. A good number of Bush judicial appointees/nominees have turned out to be liberal socialist traitors who ignore the Constitution.
John Roberts comes to mind.
Hanen is great! I wrote about him on my blog in contrast to Hecht a TX Supreme court judge seeking legal help for the UAC’s.

Read past the headline: a Bush appointee who issued a scorching rebuke to the Department of Homeland Security last year, accusing it of refusing to follow border security laws.
Per the information in the article, there’s more to him than being a “Bush appointee” - it’s how he has ruled on previous similar cases.
Please let the courts work for America at least once
I cannot imagine this man doing a huge 180 after past rulings.
It could hardly have been a worse outcome for Mr. Obama, who, in order to preserve his policy, will now have to blackmail convince a judge who is on record calling his previous, less-extensive nondeportation policies dangerous and unconscionable.
It should be in jeopardy with any judge hearing it. His “amnesty” is blatantly unconstitutional.
The judge rebuked the administration but they just keep on. They ignore all the judges. The only judges that anyone abides by are the ones that say bans on gay marriage are unconstitutional.
Paul LePage, the Governor of Maine, joined Governor-Elect Abbott’s lawsuit this past week.
why did sheriff arpanio file his suit with a judge who clearly will not rule in his direction.
They need to get judges who will force the issue fast to the supreme court.
I think the SCOTUS will have to eventually rule as they did with FDR
Thanks sheikdetailfeather.
Any legal people out here know if a judge can issue a stay on Obama’s EO on amnesty until the case makes its way through the courts ?
Name one Governor that has refused to obey a judge's order to ignore their own constitution.
I’m talking about the Obama regime, not the governors. Bo and team just ignore the federal judges rulings and plow on with their agenda.
*** ACA dies in the courts... Bush’s fault ***
Talk about poetic justice.
Exactly, that is the reason that I am pointing out that Governors have substantial powers that they fail to bring to bear.
That would depend heavily on what dirt Obama's minions (gov and media) can dig up on the judge.
