Trent Lott Slams Ted Cruz As A Troublemaker

Mississippi’s congressional delegation is regaining its clout, former Sen. Trent Lott said Thursday.

Lott noted that, beginning in January, Republican Sen. Thad Cochran is in line to become chairman of the powerful Appropriations Committee, and Republican Sen. Roger Wicker will take over the National Republican Senatorial Committee, a top leadership post.

“Our delegation has been relatively weak in recent years compared to the past, but with time that is beginning to change,” Lott, a former Senate majority leader, told reporters following a breakfast hosted by the Christian Science Monitor. “They’re building up seniority and influence and respect.”

SPECIAL: Modern Day Patriots, this is the time to stand shoulder to shoulder with our forefathers in Lexington and Concord. We need the Tea Party now more than ever.

Lott was joined at the breakfast by former Democratic Sen. Tom Daschle of South Dakota, also a former Senate majority leader. The two, co-chairmen of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Commission on Political Reform, discussed issues facing the new Congress and prospects for bipartisanship.

“People yearn for their elected officials, their leaders, to lead to try to get things done,” Lott said. “It is harder now, I think. My attitude is, why would you want to come here if all you want to do is raise money and get re-elected? Why wouldn’t you want to make a difference?… Just to do nothing is not a conservative position.”

In Mississippi, Lott said, GOP leaders are working to repair damage from GOP Sen. Thad Cochran’s bruising re-election race against Republican state Sen. Chris McDaniel, a tea party favorite who lost to Cochran in a GOP primary runoff.

Gov. Phil Bryant “is working very hard to get everybody pulled back together, there are a lot of people that are working to bridge that damage that was done.”

“Just to do nothing is not a conservative position.”

I beg to differ! From The Conscience of a Conservative:

"The turn will come when we entrust the conduct of our affairs to men who understand that their first duty as public officials is to divest themselves of the power they have been given. It will come when Americans, in hundreds of communities throughout the nation, decide to put the man in office who is pledged to enforce the Constitution and restore the Republic. Who will proclaim in a campaign speech: "I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed in their purpose or that impose on the people an unwanted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is 'needed' before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissable. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents' 'interests,' I shall reply that I was informed their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can."

Trent Lott couldn’t slam his d*ick in a car door.
He’s a lobbying punk playing for the gop-e team, enough said.

Judd Gregg checked in for the GOPe’s yesterday or this morning.

They’re rolling out the “B” Team.

Losers then.

Losers now.

Losers forever.

Chester should stick to what he does best...
That would be signing in his choir and playing with pom poms.

Trent.

There is a REASON you are not a lawmaker any more.

BECAUSE EVERYONE HATES YOU.

Yea, let him give us an honest answer as to what happened in the background in the McDaniel/Cochran run off.

Trent Lott needs to go home and play with his great grand children .

Could we possibly ask Thad Cochran take a competency test before he gets this position?

One by one, we’ll get rid of all of these “OLD BAGGAGE” that has done their best to destroy the REPUBLICAN PARTY and turned it into a “DEMOCRAT LITE” party. There isn’t a bit of difference between the “OLD GUARD” in the republican party and the democrats. They are all for “BIG GOVERNMENT”, not less government. There is a new wind blowing, and that wind is saying, “A SMALLER GOVERNMENT, IS A BETTER GOVERNMENT”. And little by little, we’ll rid ourselves of these “OLD GUARD” and replace them with the “YOUNG TURKS”
