Upbeat Cosby expects ‘black media’ to stay neutral
NY Post ^ | December 13, 2014 | Stacy Brown

Bill Cosby broke his silence Friday, albeit briefly, to lecture the media on remaining “neutral” and to say that his wife is standing by him.

Reached at his Massachusetts home, the star declined to address the rape and sex abuse allegations from an ever-growing list of women that now includes supermodel Beverly Johnson.

Instead, Cosby, 77, said that the African-American media — for which this reporter often writes — should be impartial.

“Let me say this. I only expect the black media to uphold the standards of excellence in journalism and when you do that you have to go in with a neutral mind,” Cosby said.

“African American media?!” Like JET, Ebony, BET, “Black Enterprise”? I always told my daughters that there is no higher form of racism, and there isn’t.

He did pay up in 2006 for a 2004 rape, when 13 other victims were willing to support the 2004 victim.

He doesn’t look good, and the industry people who know him best, are not defending him and playing shocked at the accusations.

When we arrived at basic and had to empty our duffle bags, the black drill sergeant shouted the question at me, was I a *igger lover, when he saw my Jet magazine.

Years later I subscribed to “Black Enterprise” in the late 1990s, and still have a copy in storage where they included Jesse Jackson’s shake down of corporations (pay up or we boycott you as racists), as a legitimate business model.

When a celeb is accused of rape that celeb should expect every woman he ever slept with or did drugs with to make a claim. Sadly there are evil women who do make false rape claims.

Strange, but I can never find an interview where the falsely-accused, innocent, non-rapist Cosby replies forcefully and clearly, “No. I have never raped anyone. These charges are all false. These women are all lying. None of these stories are true.”

You are so right. It's a HUGE tell that what these women are saying is true.

Their minds have been left in neutral all along, that makes it easy to push them in the desired direction. It's analogous to drugging someone.

At some point, he'll die, and that will happen before the first real courthouse antics begin. His best bet would be to buy a white Bronco and lead a low-speed chase.

I believe the women. That's mainly because some of them are prestigious enough to have nothing to gain from coming forward.

That being said, those were different times. A woman was expected to take responsibility for the situations she put herself in. The minors?....I think they were supposed to have chaperones back then. The grapevine? I'd be surprised if women didn't tell each other to avoid him.

I'd take a look at the wife, too. Was she an enabler? I also wish Cosby would "stay classy" and not blame the women or the media.

If the cops one day in the future arrested and charged Bill Cosby with committing these crimes the prosecutors could present testimony from these victims at trial as evidence. The jury could vote ‘guilty’ based on this evidence. It happens all the time. Sometimes defendants get convicted because of the evidence provided by one victim’s testimony. Eye-witness testimony is evidence.

Of course, I don’t see this happening with Cosby, unfortunately, because of the statute of limitations.

He comes across as a smug, controlling, power broker. You see this in the AP footage as well, it is a polite form of strongarming under-girded with tones of threats. The more I see of Cosby’s response the more I see that those I have spoken to who have had dealings with him are right, guy is a creep.

//If Cosby expects this loose, superficial construct known as Black Media to stand up for him during this ‘inquisition’//

That is exactly what he expects, because he expects the other racists in Black media to back him no matter the cost based on the color of his skin.

They were more supportive of him when it was just white women coming forward.

It is BECAUSE they were a celebrity that they waited and as several have said (which is often the case and shown by posts like yours) people do not come forward because the don’t think anyone would believe them.

I deal with a lot of abuse counseling, and like in other areas of abuse, people gain courage when they see others have suffered at the hands of the same abuser. It becomes easier to come forward (even after long periods of time) when you see others come forward.

Also, remember the culture - rape accusations in general were not taken seriously (victims fault) and ‘date rape’ wasn’t even part of the vocabulary when much of this happened.

He is not a conservative! He makes statements about the youth that are common and supported by his GENERATION of BLACKS. He is speaking to his age group. He is a racist, Obama loving Democrat who thinks we should be more like Muslims and calls the GOP racist!

And so far, the Black Media has been pretty silent on this, they have been avoiding the topic, in part because most of the claimants have been white women. Now that a well known black woman came forward (actually a couple of them recently), ONE reporter (who crosses the media lines at that) asked for a statement and he plays the race card. You can tell by his statements (both this and the AP footage) he is a master manipulator.

“...if Bill was...banging all these girls, you would think there would be some evidence after almost 50 years.”

I don’t know; he was a cultural icon set up on a pedestal because of his ethnicity, and thus was “protected.” Very similar to JFK, a notorious womanizer, but a darling of the media. The media sat on his licentiousness for years, even after his death (they didn’t want to tarnish their martyr’s image).

The media create the myths, and do whatever they need to do to protect their creation. Just like they did and are doing with Obama.

News article early this year, then a comedian making a comment in his skit about Bill Cosby being a rapist (per the 2006 lawsuit) and saying ‘google it’. It went viral. Then several of the women came forward (again) from the 2006 suit (settled out of court) and then more women came forward and it started to snowball. In the middle of this the poor PR choice to create memes for cosby which went viral.
