Three Obama nominees who may now be confirmed, thanks to Ted Cruz (Harry Reid using nuclear option)

On Friday evening, the Senate's leaders, Mitch McConnell and and Harry Reid thought they had an agreement from their members to let the clock run over the weekend without actually being in session, and vote Monday on the $1.1 trillion spending bill needed to keep the government up and running. But Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah objected to the spending bill. This meant their colleagues in the Senate would have to hold a rare Saturday session to keep the spending bill moving.

It also had the unintended benefit of helping the Democrats move forward with the nominations of 24 of the Obama administration's nominees for executive and judicial branch positions. Without the delay, the Senate could not have started voting on the nominees until Monday evening - and at that point, if lawmakers started leaving town for the holidays, Democrats would likely have been denied their last shot at confirming the president's nominees while they have a majority in the Senate.

Now, the Senate will begin voting to confirm the 24 individuals Monday morning. Here are four of the more controversial nominees who will now get a vote.

On what basis did McConnell think he had this agreement. Did he ask Cruz, himself? Did he forget there is an upstart whippersnapper or two who sometimes doesn't play ball? Did he have no ides that the whole thing was a bit on the controversial side in the gweneral public for BOTH parties?

Or did he just say he thought he had an agreement because "That's his story and he's sticking to it." Mitch, baby, you don't get to speak for all the senators any more. You may have won over Rand, but Cruz, Lee and Sessions are stepping up to make noise. You are going to have to do some accommodating.

IOW, the nominees which would have been green-lighted in the new congress got green-lighted by the lame-duck Demagogic Party running the Senate? Yeah, Ted Cruz is to blame.

The assaults on Cruz have not even yet begun, they will become incredibly intense as he makes a stand for the Constitution for the restoration of our Free Republic that is his proven Standard, we may not like everything he does or says but he strives in all he does to ensure his actions will pass Constitutional muster.

I am going to assume the best, your thanks to Cruz, (as you left it open to assumption), was meant to be in support of Cruz, not in support of the liberal CBS report, correct men if I’m wrong.

This is disinformation. They were going to try for this whether Cruz tried for his amendment or not. They are trying to use it against him. It’s another FALSE NARRATIVE — or PACK OF LIES, in common vernacular.

So Dingy Harry wouldn't have used the "nuclear option" had Ted Cruz not bothered him?

Seriously?

Dingy Harry does whatever he wants... for another month or so.

Maybe if more of the political criminal class had some integrity (like Ted Cruz and Mike Lee do) we wouldn’t have the constant kabuki theater. Traitors were exposed. Vote them out!

The Senate, dems and repubs, wipe their rear ends with the Constitution and I’m supposed to be upset over Dingy Harry going nuclear? He would have done it anyway. What difference does it make? We don’t have a country anymore.

So .. you’re calling Ted Cruz names ..??

For what purpose ..?? Name calling is very juvenile.

Calling him names does not change who he is .. and sadly, you have no clue who he is.

But .. being from NJ; I would guess you’re a flaming liberal .. which would explain your comment; right ..??

Here is some salve from Mitt Romney, to help you feel better about us having a fighting conservative in the Senate.

“I’m not a partisan politician. My hope is that, after this election, it will be the moderates of both parties who will control the Senate, not the Jesse Helmses.”

Yeah, they would have went ahead with that regardless. If by some reason they did not, the first act of the new Senate would be to confirm them. So either way, they get confirmed.
