No Longer a Republican
Townhall ^ | Dec 22, 2014 | Matt Barber

Posted on 12/25/2014 8:36:57 AM PST by lqcincinnatus

I am no longer a Republican. John Boehner, Mitch McConnell and their Democrat-lite, RINO Republican establishment have seen to that. They have betrayed their own constituents. They have actively turned against the American people – the very voters who granted them power to do good.

Even before the gavel has sounded on the Republican-led 114th Congress, these treacherous cowards shamelessly, eagerly, it seems, squandered perhaps the one opportunity they had to stop, in his tracks, America’s first cultural Marxist, anti-American, palpably evil president.

If you’re referring to H. Res 776 [Providing for consideration of the Senate amendment to H.R. 83, to require the Secretary of the Interior to assemble a team of experts to address the energy needs of the insular areas of the United States and Freely Associated States through the development of energy action plans aimed at promoting access to energy], there was only one vote taken, and Smith of TX voted for, on December 11: https://www.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/house-resolution/776/all-actions-with-amendments

The link that you posted http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d113:H.RES.776 was dead.

Why thank you for the correction. In which office of the Congressman do your work?

I quit the Republican Party two years ago and joined the Liberrarian party. I have some serious issue with LP but fewer than I do with the party of Lindsey Graham and John Boehner. Besides, the LP is much more honest and truer to its principles than the GOP is, by far. I enjoy the company of honest people even if they’re wrong about a few things.

The lesser of two evils is still evil

Something that just occurred to me, you would never read this type of comment on DU...,for the most part, they are on board with the party's direction, albeit some complain that they aren't moving fast enough.

What is wrong with conservatives? Our thinking needs to be unified on the question of what being a conservative means, otherwise we will continue to fail.

I don’t work for any Congressman. But I do have trouble seeing what your complaint is about. You say he made a type of vote that doesn’t in the U.S. House, and claim he voted against a bill for which he voted Yea. What Bill did Congressman Smith vote for or against that got your panties in a wad, and why did that rub you wrong? So far, what you’re claiming doesn’t add up....

The problem is simple. Most ‘conservatives’ are moderates at best. Some are more liberal than the average Democrat.

All one need to is scan the threads and read ‘conservatives posting in support of the Cuba fiasco, telling us to ‘keep our powder dry, still to this day making excuses for Romney and openly stating they will vote for ANY Republican to keep the Dem from winning.

Not whats right. Not whats good. Not whats best for America. Simply acting like a tentruming child, throwing themselves on the floor and screaming till they get what they want and everyone gives it to them.

We will not BEGIN to fix America till we fix ourselves and we will never fix ourselves until we rid ourselves of the libs among us.

Its all semantics but there was a procedural vote to move the bill forward then the vote on the bill itself.

Politicians get to play tricks with two votes on bills all the time....

“Give us something to vote FOR and we will”

Exactly why O is president and Harry Reid persists.

Grow up politics has been nasty and dirty for a long time. Unless you are going to run it is time to start backing conservatives....I did not ‘blame’ the base what I noted was that people stayed home for any of a variety of reasons some of which included nonsense just as you have stated. If you think Richard Nixon was my choice for candidate in 1968 then you are delusional. I voted against Humphrey and the dems.

In 2012 ( as well as 2008) the communist O ran and won because good men did NOTHING. In their own arrogance they sniffed and said O can[’t be any worse than that RINO. Well the truth is that O and Holder and Jarrett are worse than those RINOs.....demonstrably so

No he isn’t. Without the rinos giving him power he’s have had no cash or authority to do Jack Squat. A president with no cash to bribe illegals, unions and liberals is entirely berift of power.

So he is like any other schmuck off the street. And until he GOT that money and was GIVEN free passes by the GOP and the USSC headed by a GOP sycophant, he had nothing but hope and change.
then the GOP funded him, stood aside and let his blackness wash over America to let their guilt provide an excuse for their actions.

THAT is far more evil than anything Val, Barry and the gang ever devises. Because the very people who were elected to keep this crap in check, rammed it ahead full speed.

“Romney may not have been anything I wanted but he definitely was not as bad as O.”

This comment is NOT a reason to vote for Romney. Evidently many felt this way. And if the choice in the coming 2016 election is as unappetizing as this past contest between the Big Commie and the Little Commie the Big commie will win again.

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...

“I’m staying as a Republican, so I can FIGHT the RINOs, instead of letting them win. If they win, it will because of us CONSERVATIVES leaving and liberals will win. What we need to to go and join the local party and fight from within.”

I believe that is the best advice. If conservatives don’t have enough votes to reform the GOP, how can they be strong enough to win elections on their own? RINOs do not own the GOP. They hold a lot of power and won’t give it up easily of course, but the winner is still the person with the most votes, right?

Exactly why O is president and Harry Reid persists.

It's useless to try and argue with people like you, so I'm not going to even bother. You'll continue to vote for the statist enablers as long as they have the "R" after their name. Go right ahead.

The RNC also ‘owns’ the Super Delegates, in case the regular primaries are not going the way the Elites want.

Nextrush, I understand that there are procedural votes (not cloture) in the House, but in the instance of H. Res. 776, there was no recorded procedural vote. lqcincinnatus stated that it was his desire that Cong. Lamar Smith, TX, vote against ‘cloture’ and against the Bill in the final vote (lqcincinnatus stated his desires in Post 1; H. Res. 776 identified as the legislation that caused lqcincinnatus distress per Post 62). lqcincinnatus stated that Cong. Smith voted FOR ‘cloture’ and against the bill in the final vote (per Post 1).

But, NEITHER of the events claimed in Post 1 by lqcincinnatus are what occurred for H. Res. 776 (see https://www.congress.gov/bill/113th-congress/house-resolution/776/all-actions-with-amendments for a record of the actions in H. Res. 776): Debate was held, debate was extended, there was a voice vote (non-recorded) to end debate and Cong. Lamar Smith voted FOR (not against) the bill in the final vote. Either lqcincinnatus identified the wrong bill in his Post 62, or he was mistaken about what Cong. Lamar Smith, TX, did during the H. Res. 776 votes.

Heads-up FReepers! We can sit at our keyboards and bitch and moan for hours, but, it's time to act. In the mid-1800s, the Whigs were the RINOs of today causing many to break away and for a new Party called The Republican Party; which destroyed the Whig Party. In less than 10 years, this new Party's candidate was in the White House. His name; Abe Lincoln. Maybe Matt Barber (the author of this article) would consider leading a movement to form a new Party that would uphold the Constitution of the United States and Conservative values. Does anyone have Mr. Barber's ear? We need to get this party started. The longer we wait, the more this country will be destroyed by the DemocRATS and the slimy RINOs of the GOP.
