Bill Maher: Hundreds of Millions of Muslims Support Attack on ‘Charlie Hebdo’
The daily beast ^

Posted on 01/08/2015 7:42:17 AM PST by marthemaria

Bill Maher didn’t hold back Wednesday night, blasting “hundreds of millions” of the world’s Muslims for allegedly supporting the Islamic terrorist massacre of cartoonists, writers, and editors at a Parisian satirical magazine that has mocked the Prophet Muhammad.

“I know most Muslim people would not have carried out an attack like this,” the host of HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher said on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. “But here’s the important point: Hundreds of millions of them support an attack like this. They applaud an attack like this. What they say is, ‘We don’t approve of violence, but you know what? When you make fun of the Prophet, all bets are off.”

“Hundreds of millions of Muslims?” a clearly skeptical Kimmel asked his fellow comedian, an out and proud atheist who in recent years has targeted the adherents of Islam for harsh criticism.

“Absolutely,” Maher insisted. “That is mainstream in the Muslim world. When you make fun of the Prophet, all bets are off. You get what’s coming to you. It’s also mainstream that if you leave the religion, you get what’s coming to you—which is death. Not in every Muslim country… but this is the problem in the world that we have to stand up to.”

He continued, “I’m the liberal in this debate,” adding that he grew up in a family that supported John F. Kennedy over racist Southern governments in the fight for civil rights. “The reason we were liberals is we were against oppression.”

Needless to say, Maher’s vitriolic rant drew few laughs from the studio audience, which seemed stunned into silence by his uncompromising anger.

Maher’s well-known anti-Islamic views have come in for severe criticism in recent months from moderate Muslims and even prominent liberals (such as Ben Affleck on an installment of Real Time) who’ve accused him of intolerance and ignorance.

He praised the murdered editors, writers, and cartoonists of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo for their bravery in lampooning Muslims in the face of death threats and even the November 2011 firebombing of their offices. “These guys had the balls of the Eiffel Tower. Their balls were bigger than Gerard Depardieu,” Maher said.

Politically correct liberals have turned America into “Pussy Nation.”

By contrast, he said in a line that was partially bleeped during the broadcast, the politically correct liberals of the United States, especially those who’ve been arguing for sensitivity to delicate Muslim sensibilities, had turned America into “Pussy Nation.”

When Kimmel warned that Maher was turning on his fellow liberals, Maher corrected, “No. I’m asking them to turn toward the truth. I’m the liberal in this debate. I’m for free speech. To be a liberal, you have to stand up for liberal principles. It’s not my fault that the part of the world that is most against liberal principles is the Muslim part of the world.”

Maher cited an unidentified “study” of 130 countries in which 17 majority Muslim countries ranked in the bottom 20 regarding the treatment of women. “In 10 Muslim countries, you can get the death penalty just for being gay. They chop heads off in the square in Mecca. Well, Mecca is their Vatican City. If they were chopping heads off gay people in Vatican City, wouldn’t there be a bigger outcry among liberals?”

When the show resumed after a commercial break, Maher’s bile had not run out, and he spent the next several minutes venting at Bill Cosby. Not only had the iconic comedian sexually assaulted many, many women, Maher argued, “I never thought he was funny.” He added: “People say he deserves his day in court… Do we have enough time?”

Maher drew a contrast between the embattled Cosby, who has so far been accused by some 30 alleged victims, to such high-profile alleged offenders as Woody Allen, “who had one accuser,” and the late Michael Jackson, “who had two or three accusers,” young boys who said he fondled them.

Recounting a childhood incident on the school playground, where one bully held him down while another socked him repeatedly in the face, Maher said that given the choice between that and “being jerked off by a pop star”—another bleeped phrase—he’d take the latter.

“The sooner the West faces this square on, the sooner it can be resolved.”

Throughout history, time and time again, appeasement has been the absolute wrong thing to do.

Do people never learn?

Do people never learn?

It pains me to say this, but I think we are witnessing in America what happened in Nazi Germany in 1933-1934.

That is only 80 years ago. A highly educated, technologically advanced society was taken over by madmen and their liberties lost.

Except this time, there will be no America or Allied Nations to come to our rescue.

It seems each generation has to learn the same lessons all over again, regardless of the costs paid by previous ones.

...

That’s right, and liberals should be against Big Government. What Maher doesn’t seem to know is that he’s describing classic liberalism, unaware that modern liberals have corrupted the meaning.

Is he?

Or is he doing what most libs do - their own form of taqiyya?

Libs/commies know that if their agenda is exposed, they won’t be able to attain the power to impose it.

A lot of old-line liberals are dismayed by (1) this crawling surrender of civil rights to Muslim intolerance, (2) the speech and thought control that is the PC movement, and (3) the totalitarianism of state control over every aspect of an individual's life. But they're too damn tribal to do anything about it. Don't hope for any help from Maher's side of the fence, it's all talk.

Maher has never been a truly partisan liberal in any sense. And he’s never apologized for Islam before.

History indicates that there are two types of muslims. Active, lying, murdering, advocates of conquest and conversion to their ideology by the sword. The other are passively and quietly supportive of the active lying, murdering brethren.

There are no innocents among them, only present and future enemies of civilization.

I hate when people use that line “It’s not all muslims.” My wife tells me that too.

If the muslims that don’t support violence would get off the butts and DO something about it I may consider them on our side. But their silence is consent. Why are they not out in the streets protesting the radicals? Why don’t they turn on the radicals and turn them over to the police?

I can tell you why. Either they are afraid of them or they agree with them.

I agree with Al Sisi who, last week, called for reform in Islam.

We should keep pressing that meme.

The media needs to quit quoting maher, late night talk show hosts and the like. They are not serious voices of America they are "comedians" who make money off of opportunistic political jokes and comments.

Legitimizing them as "pundits" gives us unintended consequences such as franken.

How is it that Bill Maher is the only liberal who recognizes how dangerous the Muslims are to the left’s favorite issues? They are violently anti-gay, have a real war on women, and don’t give a darn about the environment. And yet, they get a pass on just about everything. I just don’t get it. What is it, fear?

The question is why doesn’t Maher allow his hatred for God, America and conservatives to inform his opinion of Islam as do most “liberals”?

In the world of human rights, Islam is a bs "religion".

Our family joke is that if you want to be a better Jew, you start reading more, questioning more, do a good deal and maybe take a trip to Israel. If you want to be a better Christian, you start forgiving everybody and give your stuff away. If you want to be a better Muslim, you start killing anyone who isn't EXACTLY like you!

And, btw, you have to do mental gymnastics to make Mohammed a descendent of Ishmael. Geography doesn't work out to make it so. Reconstructed genealogy and fiction now accepted as "fact".

Time for numbers. I have heard say that only about 10% of muslims are radical enough to carry out violent attacks. I will take that statement at face value.

A quick web search says that there are 1.8 Billon practitioners of the muslim faith. Simple math tells us that there are 180 MILLION muslims that want to cut our infidel heads off.

To put that in perspective, the US has about 2.3 million active duty, guard and reserve troops on hand.

Radical muslims outnumber the totality of our armed forces at about 78 to 1.

If you combine the militaries of Russia, China, France, Germany, England, France, Japan, Australia, India and Canada, we are still vastly outnumbered. 180 million divided by 13.61 million, or 13.22 to 1.

Maybe, but every time muslims go up against a professional western military it ends up being a turkey shoot.

However, against shoppers, journalists & school children they really kick ass.

Maher is right about Islam, wrong about Cosby...at least partially wrong. I never liked “The Cosby Show,” but Cosby’s comedy albums from the sixties were treasured by millions of teens. His routine about listening to a horror show on the radio when he was a kid is still funny.
