Papa John's Pizza stands by employee who shot armed robber in self defense

Papa John's Pizza is standing by a pizza delivery woman who opened fire Sunday on an armed robber in an act of self defense.

The employee was making a delivery in Decatur, Ga., Sunday night when a man approached her vehicle, forcing her onto the ground at gunpoint, according to the DeKalb County Police Department. The woman, who had a gun in her pocket, was able to fire at the man while on the ground -- striking the alleged assailant, identified as 24-year-old Donquaz Stevenson, in the face.

Stevenson was later found in a neighbor's yard and arrested, according to police, who said the pizza delivery might have been a setup. Local media outlets reported that a second suspect carjacked the delivery woman's silver 2000 Honda Accord and remains on the run.

Stevenson was charged with armed robbery and was being treated for a gunshot wound at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

While Papa John's prohibits employees -- including delivery drivers -- from carrying firearms on the job, the pizza giant said Thursday the woman would not be let go from the company. She instead will be reassigned to another role, according to the company.

"Company policy prohibits employees from utilizing firearms in the performance of their duties. We plan no changes to our current policy, which is designed to protect customers and employees," the statement read. "Upon investigation and considering the specific facts of the situation, we have reassigned the employee to work in the store and are offering her counseling to help her recuperate from the incident."

The crime happened a day before another Papa John's employee was attacked at gunpoint in Missouri.

Tort reform needed so companies can't get sued for letting employees defend themselves.

Pizza delivery is one of the most dangerous jobs.

Here in Texas the Amish prayer leader Donquaz would be prosecuted and not his victim.

A pizza guy here was murdered awhile back just for his ID and pizza box, so the guy could get someone to open a door and murder them. A husband and father murdered for a lousy pizza box.

Time for a Procott. Everyone go bury Pappa John’s with a pizza order right now! Mention the employee and the company trying to do the right thing. Franchise operations tend to have the parent company’s ear like it’s a teat.

It ain’t great pizza, but OK. Gotta like a company that, even though “policy” is violated, takes the actual circumstances of the event in mind.

I'm guessing this picture was taken before he was shot in the face by a woman.

Papa John’s is big enough and so centrally owned, that a choice to support or terminate this employee can easily be reached in short order. They made the right decision and have gained a lot of goodwill. I hope the woman keeps her name private. Some anti-gun folks may want to pay her an unannounced visit.

Poor Donquaz. I bet his street cred took a hit by getting shot by a girl. OMG what will his homeboys think of him now..........Donquaz thought he was such a tough mother fletcher. Maybe not so much now......hopefully he will have lots of time in prison to think about his life and what the heck he is doing.........

WRONG ANSWER, I realize they are doing the right thing sort of by not firing her, but the response should have been:

After reviewing this case, we have decided to Abolish the policy of Not Utilizing Firearms during the course of their duties and instead, We at Papa Johns are encouraging ALL OF OUR EMPLOYEES to get Training and Concealed Weapons Permits. We will begin offering FREE Firearm Safety courses to all Franchisees and openly encourage our Stores to use their GOD GIVEN RIGHT to Defend themselves against these cockroaches.

Watch the pizza crime stop overnight!

I know who you are referring to - the whackjob who did it died in a hail of bullets after a wild chase here in North Texas.

Damn. Guess I am going to order a PJ tonight.

For “fast food” pizza, I don’t think it is that bad.

I always have to ask them for extra tomato sauce on the pie, though....it seems dry otherwise.

Maybe they can incorporate this into one of the commercials with Peyton Manning. “Better ingredients, better shots, Papa Johns”.

This is how most Americans are going to have to act to protect themselves and survive the black onslaught.

Just how many feral sons with home-made names does Obama have anyway?
