Buzz builds around Walker

The Beltway is abuzz over Scott Walker.

The Wisconsin governor is the talk of Washington Republicans following his much-heralded speech in Iowa last weekend during the state’s first 2016 candidate cattle call.

Walker’s strong showing in the Hawkeye State is reverberating back in D.C., where donors, kingmakers and lawmakers in both houses of Congress are talking about him as a top-tier candidate in the crowded GOP field.

“He should feel pretty good about this past weekend,” said Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), who organized the Iowa Freedom Summit. “So far, this week has been pretty good for Scott Walker.” The governor has been making moves toward a White House run, hiring some top GOP staffers and launching a new fundraising organization on Tuesday. He’ll be in Washington on Friday to deliver a high-profile speech to a leading conservative organization, his first public speech in D.C. since his 2014 reelection win.

Walker has long drawn praise from disparate parts of his party, though questions have lingered about his charisma.

Hard-line conservatives love his high-profile battles with Wisconsin’s unions and successful push for legislation on a number of their priorities, including lower taxes, tightened restrictions on abortions and loosened ones on guns.

“He seems like a great guy, and he gave a tremendous speech,” said Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), a leading Tea Party conservative who also spoke at the Iowa confab.

Establishment-leaning Republicans love that he’s shown how to govern and win three elections in four years in a state that usually leans Democratic.

“He’s got a great record in Wisconsin, and I think he’s great,” said Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), a member of Senate GOP leadership.

Cruz is my first choice as well. But I am thinking that Walker could be the guy who bridges the wide gap between Conservatives and the GOPe. Not the first choice of either, by any means, but also not someone they will fight tooth and nail against.

YES! This is the guy who can defeat the Evil Empire. I predict he will have a steady rapid ascension to the nomination. Reagen-esque in his ability to articulate common sense Traditional American Values and also to connect with blue collar and independent voters.

Watch for the long knives to come out very soon, especially from the Left.

Just about everything I've heard about Governor Walker impresses me greatly. But I heard something the other day that surprised me...that he wasn't a college graduate.I'm not at all bothered by that fact...my Dad,a *very* successful man,had never set foot in college due to family poverty. But it's not difficult to imagine the filthy comments that pigs like The Former Twelfth Lady or Princess Liawatha would make regarding this fact.

Sarah and Cruz should step aside. Walker needs to take clear aim at Jeb and Mitt.

“He’s one of the few political leaders who has the respect to unite the party, who has trust and respect on the right for his many previous accomplishments in Wisconsin, and yet he doesn’t offend in any way the moderates and comes across to them as a sensible pragmatic person,” Malek continued. “He can bring it all together and he’ll be a really credible candidate.”

Walker made some dismal statements that indicate that he's opposed to stopping and reversing the invasion of the US. He's also supporting a scheme to use some tax collections to build a new stadium....clearly something that should be undertaken by private enterprise.

Seems to be too much of a Chamber of Commerce kind of guy. Besides that, I'll be very reluctant to trust anyone who doesn't have a voting record in DC. We've been stung too many times.

The two of them on one ticket would make a formidable duo, likely winning, and hold the best chance to actually do something that could start to revive our country.

At this point, I don't care which is at the top of the ticket.

I like Cruz and I like Walker. Both have the courage of their convictions. Walker is battle tested and has already proven he can take body blow after body blow and stick to his guns. Cruz has shown he is not afraid to be one of the few principled voices on a ship of fools.

But here is the rub. I am taking a practical approach this election. I will not choose between these two or run down any other conservative candidate until a stake has been driven through the heart of the GOP-e’s choice candidates (Christie, Jeb and/or Romney).

Then, when it comes to choosing between Cruz and Walker I will see who has the better campaign machine and the better chance of winning and that will drive my decision. I know that either one of these guys would make an infinitely better President than we have had in a long, long time.

Walker-Cruz 2016.

Or Cruz-Walker.

I can swing either way.

Let’s see how these guys weather the inevitable assaults from the likes of Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and Mitt Romney before we accept or reject anyone. It is going to be brutal. Anyone with a good writer can make a good speech without scrutiny. My mind is open for Walker, but it is way, way too early.

Left Marquette early to begin working and never went back to finish. Was rumors that he was doing work on the side to get it, but really don’t think its that big of a deal.

I would think the line “look at what all of these degrees have done in Washington the last 8 years” would be the only things he’d have to say in response.

Ronald Reagan thought the same when he nominated G.H.W. Bush as his vice president. It was the biggest mistake he ever made, and we suffer for it today.

Quote: “Sarah and Cruz should step aside. Walker needs to take clear aim at Jeb and Mitt.”

I largely suspect that Walker could take them both out regardless. He has Preibus as an ally and is a proven fund raiser.

There is going to have to be mucho weeding out this cycle:

Paul, Perry, Huckster, Jeb, Christie, Cruz, Walker, Mittens, Jindal, etc.

Some are already done before they started because they simply do not have the fundraising ability. What frightens me, however, is that we will see the conservatives split again allowing Jeb, Christie or Mittens to back into the nomination. I think a big problem is Perry. I like Rick, but he sure could throw a wrench into the works.

His governing abilities are documented. The only question was could he sell them. He looks good speaking to fellow republicans. To the Marxists/unions he is the most hated man in America. He is on the top of my list.

I’ll join the chorus:

Cruz\Walker
or
Walker\Cruz

But imagine how Cruz will skewer Shrillary in the debates.
