Rand Paul (R-Ky.) waded into the debate over vaccinations Monday, telling conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham that he thinks most vaccines should be “voluntary.” Paul, an ophthamologist and likely 2016 White House hopeful, expressed particular concern over mandatory vaccinations for sexually transmitted diseases. He criticized former Texas Gov. Rick Perry for his executive order mandating that Texas children receive the HPV vaccine. “I’m not anti-vaccine at all,” Paul said, but “I think that’s a personal decision.”

Why is the CDC advocating new born babies be immunized to protect them against a sexually transmitted disease? There is a real problem when Government agencies promote vaccinations that just don’t make sense.

There are many reasons why people choose to not get vaccines. I am a believer in vaccination but did not get my small pox shot until I joined the military. This was due to a skin condition that I had as a child.
People have the right to decide their own health care.
What vaccines are mandatory? I mean, outside of the armed forces?
Even Rick Perry’s “mandate” only applied to people who wanted to attend public schools, so it wasn’t actually mandatory.

Diseases that are sexually transmitted are also commonly transmitted to newborns as they are in the birth canal, so perhaps that is why?
