Jordan confirmed on Wednesday that “The Jordanian King Abdullah II will participate personally on Thursday in conducting air strikes against the shelters of the terrorist ISIL organization to revenge the execution of the Jordanian pilot Maath al-Kassasba by the ISIL.”

Media outlets reported the King Abdullah II as saying “The war against ISIL will not end and we will fight them in their shelters.”

Nobody is on their kneepads. They just rejoice that someone has courage to fight evil.

Actually Jordan is at peace with Israel and has acknowledged Israel as a country and that they have the right to exist.

That is true. Thanks...

In the past eight years, the following countries have had or almost had revolutions:
* Libya, Quadaffi dead, Obama’s team supported those overthrowing him
* Egypt, Mubarak out, then Muslim Brotherhood out by military coup, Obama said the Muslim Brotherhood was democracy in action
* Tunisian revolution, 2010-2011, actually led to democracy, no big involvement by US
* Yemen, two presidents/prime ministers, we’re not very involved
* Syria, attempt to overthrow dictator, currently in civil war, Obama arming the people trying to overthrow the dictator, with many arms ending up in the hands of ISIS
* Iraq, Hussain out, now civil war, after Obama limited troop options and eventually pulled our soldiers out
* Iran, attempted revolution in 2009, ayatollahs still in power, Obama deliberately did nothing to aid a pro-democratic revolution, citing fears of destabilization

"Of course, OUR President won't know about it until he reads about it in tomorrow's New York Times."

Obegme won't know about it until his staff reads it then runs it by VJ and she tells him about it.

Some are destined for greatness. Some are destined to be community organizers.

I think you coined a new meme.

Here's mine:

Some are destined for greatness. Some are destined to rife bicycles wearing a helmet.

Some are destined for greatness. Some are destined to need a body man.

Some are destined for greatness. Some are destined to wreck a great nation.

Abdullah II of Jordan

........."Abdullah began his schooling at the Islamic Educational College in Amman. He then attended St Edmund's School, Hindhead, in England, before continuing his education in the United States at Eaglebrook School and Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, Massachusetts. In 1980 he joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, was commissioned into the British Army as a Second Lieutenant, and served for a year as a troop commander in the 13th/18th Royal Hussars.[1] In 1982, Abdullah was admitted to Pembroke College, Oxford, where he completed a one-year Special Studies course in Middle Eastern Affairs. In 1987, he attended the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.[4] In 1993, he assumed command of Jordan's Special Forces and became a Major General in May 1998.".................

It is noted in various other sources that he is a former helicopter pilot.

I suspect there is a fair amount of respect between these two.

No doubt. They may have their differences and may at times piss one another off, but each one knows he's dealing with a real man.

It's the respect that badasses have for each other.

The fact that Jordan is building nuclear power plants and nobody talks about it is a pretty good indicator of how secure Israel feels about Jordan.

What about Madison and the troops in the war of 1812? I realized that was a artillery unit, but I would think that still counts as the CiC leading men in combat.

“I applaud his bravery, but there are big risks here.”

Freedom isn’t free. ISIS is spreading because people are not willing to do enough stop them. If you look at history, the prime real estate has always been the fertile crescent of present day Iraq/ Syria/ Jordan/ Israel. ISIS is already spreading through Iraq and Syria. The very public burning of the pilot was an act of war that Jordan must respond to, and that response has to come off as being just as bold. Running raids is one thing, but having the King at the helm will be deemed especially bold and heroic in that culture.
