PHOTOS: Bugs invade ‘healthy’ Michelle O lunches

NEW YORK – Advocates are struggling to get students to eat “healthy” lunches – even if they’re free.

It’s not too hard to see why. Timothy Martinez qualifies for free lunches, but he and his classmates often skip meals and go hungry because the cafeteria food at Bronx Academy of Letters is inedible, according to DNAinfo.

“When they serve us pizza, sometimes it’s not reheated all the way and you can see the frozen pieces in the dough,” Martinez says. “It’s the same thing with the taco meat. And they serve us ices instead of juice,” referring to the liquids still being frozen.

Pretty much. They point to how Did well Friends has the same guideline. They ignore that they have a larger and more talented staff making the food.

Michelle Obama is the personification of the “let them eat cake” mentality. She’s so clueless about the real issue that her helping is of no help whatsoever.

Freshman year of high school I used to eat in the cafeteria, for about a month. Then, as I was waiting in line one day, I saw roaches scurrying about between the warming trays, right in front of the lunch ladies. Never ate there again, I would just get fritos and peanut butter cups from the vending machine.

About 3 or 4 months later, the guy at the table next to me stood up and started yelling. He had bit into a burger and got half a cockroach in his mouth.

She should go to China. They can teach her how to make dumplings out of grease and old newspapers.

All the money goes into Planning the Menus and there’s no money left for the Food

What a perfect demonstration of EVERYTHING the left tries to do “top-down”.

“And bugs are a great source of protein.”

That is why I get my peanut butter from China. Bug protein tastes funny but the asbestos disguises the taste.... :/

Truth be told, there are probably just as many bugs in Moo’s lunches as there are in non-Moo lunches. This is most likely caused by the lunchroom storeroom not being cleaned.

My grandma wouldn't eat margarine (back in the days when it was declared more healthy than dairy butter) for exactly this reason.

I remember her talking me out to the chicken coop as a small boy to empty her fly traps-- regular sized tin cans with a cone shaped screen top and a hole cut into the tip. Flies would crawl in, but couldn't get out.

I'd be lucky to empty a fly or two out of the can with margarine. But I'd empty scores out of the other cans. The only one with more flies than the butter had oily tuna residue. We'd empty them right into the chicken pens and the first flies the hens would come and consume would be those still alive and able to crawl, but not fly.

Then grandma would tell me "If the flies won't eat it, then neither shouold you."

I should get my peanut butter from China too then. Nothing like a little asbestos to keep you from catching fire.

I ate school food less than a month of first grade. No way Jose, I explained to Mother it was a waste of money. Two things happened; I started taking a sack lunch, and Mother taught me how to make them, she didn’t have time in the morning (neither did I, I made lunch night before, stuck it in the fridge).

My sister happily munched on whatever the “Slop de Jour” might be. Anytime I was greedier than hungry, I could always sell parts of my lunch. Looked real good beside the school lunch.

“Issues of school lunch are important to students across the U.S.,” says Brandon Cardet-Hernandez, principal of the Bronx Academy of Letters, according to DNAinfo. “It’s exciting to see our students talking about food in a community that is often under-resourced.”

Oh brother. Talk about sucking down the Kool-Aid.

Flies don't eat plastic either.

Margarine and plastic are one molecule apart.
