If President Barack Obama vetoes funding the Department of Homeland Security because it doesn’t include support for his immigration initiatives, it might be time to talk about "treason," retired neurosurgeon and potential 2016 presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson told Newsmax TV's "America's Forum."
The House and Senate have been wrestling with funding for Homeland Security over Obama's controversial immigration executive order that gave temporary legal status to as many as 5 million illegal immigrants.g) The debate has put Democrats and Republicans at odds as they face a Feb. 27 deadline for Homeland Security funding. The House passed a bill that excludes Obama's immigration funding, but the measure stalled in the Senate as Democrats insisted on a clean bill. "I would say break the funding for Homeland Security up into parcels. Don't present it as a whole bill. That makes it much more difficult for [Obama] to stand in the way. And, if he does stand in the way, particularly things that are vital to the security of this country, then we can start talking about treason," Carson said Monday. "If things are done to the contrary to the security of this country, whoever does them is guilty of treason

I think we can bet on the media screwing the pooch for us during the republican primaries with wall to wall daylight to dark televised debates. And contriving dark secrets out of whole cloth about the leading candidate, picking them off one by one til we decide to run Joe Biden against Hillary Clinton.

Carson was a bit more subdued on Fox yesterday - lots of talk about how we are all Americans and they need to get partisan politics out of the way, yada-yada-yada. Then made a statement about how Obama has a real chance to be a leader. It wasn't an Obama love fest, but not nearly as strong as I would have expected from Dr, Carson.

I wouldn’t care a whit if Bath House vetoed it; DHS should be abolished anyway. It engages only in security theater, while sucking out billions from the taxpayers.
Do nothing and get paid billions to do it. Government at it’s finest.

Ben Carson is another person who could be a great president... hell, Millard Fillmore, compared to Obama would be great...
“Reince” has stated that there will be fewer debates, with moderator approval by the party. Maybe he has learned something. That seems like political strategy 101 to me.

What with Homeland Security appearing to be more concerned with tracking the political opposition than securing the borders, defunding them might be a good thing. Let the states control their borders.

I agree. Another layer of bureaucracy used as a weapon against Americans isn’t something I find to be particularly important when it comes to funding requirements.
