WALKER TOUGHENS IMMIGRATION POSITION AFTER SETBACKS
Breitbart ^ | March 27, 2015 | by MATTHEW BOYLE

Posted on 03/29/2015 11:11:08 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

After some setbacks over the past several weeks, top aides to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker tell Breitbart News that he’s toughening up his immigration position as he learns more about the issue.

“He’s for border security first, enforce the laws on the books, fix legal immigration system with national interest in mind and then deal with those here,” Walker spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski said in an email.

Kukowski’s comments to Breitbart News come after a trip Walker took on Friday to the border with Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.

A lot depends on what the governor means by a: “legal immigration system with national interest in mind.” Still, this could be a step toward Walker remaking his image on immigration in the manner of Senate Judiciary Committee subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest chairman Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL).

The question becomes: What does Walker think is a legal immigration system that serves the national interest? While he hasn’t laid that out yet, there’s a massive opportunity for either success—or failure—depending on where he comes down on this matter.

“He looks forward to further detailing his ideas on securing the border and enforcing the laws,” Kukowski added. “Yes, at the minimum, there needs to be penalties put in place. In addition to securing our borders, the federal government must enforce our laws, penalize those who break the law including paying back taxes, and implement a universal E-Verify system so employers are hiring legal employees.”

Where Walker comes down on the immigration system could make or break his candidacy...

I'll toss this in here so you can "grow" in your understanding of Walker's conservative governance.

Dec 2010: High-speed rail funds scatter to other states" Governor-elect Scott Walker had vowed to kill the planned 110-mph Milwaukee-to-Madison passenger train route that was to be funded with Wisconsin's share of $8 billion in federal stimulus dollars. Ohio Governor-elect John Kasich had issued a similar promise for a planned 79-mph line connecting his state's three largest cities, funded by $400 million in stimulus cash.

Now, almost all of the $1.2 billion from the two projects will be divided among other states. California is the big winner, with up to $624 million, followed by Florida, up to $342.3 million; Washington, up to $161.5 million; and Illinois, up to $42.3 million. Smaller amounts will go to New York, Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, Missouri, Oregon, North Carolina, Iowa and Indiana.....

In a meeting with reporters in Waukesha, Walker called the decision a "victory" because he sees the rail line as a symbol of excessive government spending.

"That's the decision they've made and we're going to move forward," the Republican governor-elect said.

Even with the federal government paying all construction costs, Walker has said he didn't want state taxpayers to bear any of the operating costs. ......."

LOL.

Walker supports citizenship for illegal aliens on a thread about his immigration weakness, so you tell us about High Speed Rail.

You were doing this kind of goofy stuff for Perry before, now Walker.

You are destroying for me what had been an open mind on Walker, as you show him to be weaker and worse than I had known.

“The amendment that I introduced removed the path to citizenship, but it did not change the underlying work permit from the Gang of Eight,” he said during a recent visit to El Paso. Cruz also noted that he had not called for deportation or, as Mitt Romney famously advocated, self-deportation.

If you were bright enough to look at my posting history you would see the proof of how in the last week or two Cincinatus’ Wife has done just that.

Before that, you won’t find me commenting on Walker, but just making up things is what you have been doing repeatedly on this thread.

So far the quality of Walker’s support here is terrible, and is indicative that the man may be much worse than many of us thought.

I am under no delusion that my comments are welcomed by you.

I’m posting to the board. The board and Jim Robinson’s thread deserved nothing less than the facts.

So I posted and linked them.

Seriously?

Walker supports citizenship for illegal aliens, and the thread is about immigration, so you post about High Speed Rail?

High speed rail is the immigration “facts” about Scott Walker?

You can tell a lot about a candidate by looking at his devoted supporters and how they answer challenges posted about his suitability, on specific issues.

BREAKING from HotAir’s Allahpundit: Ted Cruz Hasn’t Ruled Out Legalization For Illegals, Believes In Giving Them Work Permits.

Nope, wrong again:

Ted Cruz disputes MSNBC claim he supports legalization of illegal immigrants

Neither in the Texas Tribune nor at any other time has Senator Cruz ever said he supports legalization for undocumented workers currently residing in the United States.

Senator Cruz’s campaign spokeswoman Catherine Frazier told us Cruz’s goal in the Gang of Eight amendment was three fold: to get Senators on the record showing where they stood on the issue, that it was a good faith effort to improve the bill, and to stop a pathway to citizenship. Frazier explained it was not intended to suggest support for legalization.

“Cruz supports strengthening the border and fixing our legal immigration and interior enforcement systems before we deal with those who are here illegally,” Frazier said. “It’s premature to discuss what to do with those who are still here illegally until we have made these reforms. Indicating that there may be the potential for amnesty in the future, only encourages more illegal immigration.”

Frazier reiterated Senator Cruz’s consistency on the issue, that the Senator is in favor of expanding legal immigration, and that he vocally opposes President Obama’s executive immigration overreach.

While MSNBC’s claim that Senator Cruz has not specifically detailed his stance on legalizing undocumented immigrants is true, the inference that he supports legalization, is false.

Yes. Thanks for posting. The substitue resolution is included at the end of the document. That is where you can find statements such as:

“Whereas the stability of many sectors of our society is dependent on the labor of working immigrants, including those who have no legal status, and the lack of status of these undocumented workers makes them fearful of retaliation, so that many of them endure long hours and low pay, poor working conditions, sexual harassment, discrimination, and

“Whereas undocumented working immigrants in Milwaukee and throughout these United States make substantial contributions to our economic, civil, and cultural life but unjustly remain vulnerable to exploitation, now, therefore”

The substitute really sounds like someone who is tough on immigration doesn’t it?

I think Walker is opposed to amnesty just like McCain and Graham.

If you google it, you will find multiple articles where they refer to one another as “very good friends”, etc.

If you choose to not acknowledge the facts and project your own desires onto a candidate, you will likely be disappointed.

All of these guys have faults. I like Walker otherwise, but to blanket accept everything any of these guys say is just plain dumb.

You have to acknowledge where they are good and where they have deficiencies. Walker is good on unions, but soft and questionable on illegals. I know you don’t like to acknowledge the negative, but he does have a record.

Ok…..Walker requested the consulate due to the explosion of Hispanics in the state. See below.

There is nothing legally wrong with that. I am certain the Cheap Labor Express was extremely supportive of facilitating lower wage workers over expensive Americans.

“The Hispanic community in Wisconsin has grown rapidly in recent years,” Governor Walker said. “The Mexican Consulate office serving Wisconsin is located in Chicago, and it also serves Illinois and Indiana. While a mobile consulate is also available, there is a backlog, and Mexican nationals seeking documents in Wisconsin must wait two months or more.”

FYI

What is the task of a Consulate?

Consulate is the representation of the public administration of a country in a foreign town.

First of all it is responsible for its own fellow- citizens, living or travelling in the host country. The most important duties of a consulate are:

to establish and renew passports and other official documents

to report Births, Deaths, Marriages, Divorces, Adoptions etc. happened in the host country to the competent authorities home.

to inform its own citizens living abroad about the social security situation

To handle the military formalities and control for its own citizens liable to military service.

To help its own citizens in distress or other emergency situations.

To look after its own citizens in detention or arrest and to watch over the rule of law and fair trials.

To establish entry visas to foreign citizens and to inform them about immigration-, residence- and work permits.

Yep. Facilitating the foreign worker over the American worker….just what the Cheap Labor Express wants.

I’ll caveat this by saying that Walker is awesome on the union issues. I 100% agree with his positions in that area….but that is also something the Cheap Labor Express supports.

It makes me wonder if he is really in the pocket of the Chamber of Commerce.

A lot of folks confuse Corporatism with Conservatism. Many times they share the same goals, but for different reasons.

I don’ t know if Walker lines up with that, or is just naturally squishy on immigration.

Sorry, Cruz supported work permits for illegals in the Gang of 8 bill and said so in his own words.

Personally, I believe law-breakers should always be punished. Illegal immigrants have broken laws, and must be deported. I am a legal immigrant, received US citizenship in 1970. I had to go through a long process, and so should everyone else.

But Cruz, Walker, and rest of them can see the problems involved in deporting millions of illegals. And I can accept that so long as the illegals get no preference over those waiting in line legally. US imports over million immigrants each year! There is a long wait to receive green cards. The illegals MUST go at the end of that line.

Neither Walker nor anyone can throw these damn illegals out with Obama and his crooks in the DOJ. Once he is gone it is time for Operation Wetback II.
