Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R) said Tuesday he will back an amendment to the state's new "religious freedom" law clarifying that it does not allow businesses to deny service to anyone, and insisted that he never intended to discriminate against members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

That the right to discriminate--that is make your own decisions, based upon your own lights--is the very essence of liberty; while Governmental denial of that right, goes to the very essence of tyranny.
It doesn’t matter what the facts, or the truth are now.
This is just the latest MSNBC/DailyKos outrage Du’ Jour, and Pence caved under the pressure.
I would not call it so much cowardly as short sighted and illustrative of that famous quote from John F. Kennedy: Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
Does a citizen really have to start killing people to keep government agents out of their religion? Judging from the success of islam, it would seem so....

Which has always been the case.
The issue is forcing a business to provide a service it does not offer.
I believe before this bill it was legal to discriminate against gays in that state, unless the counties and cities law forbids it.

Mary, The country in which you and I grew up has been hijacked by a consortium of lownoinfo voters (thank you government schools and the Marxists now running them) and venal, self-serving politicians who believe that if they either remain silent to the ongoing “transformation” (much of the GOP) or aid and abet the process (ALL the Dems who are now indistinguishable from the Stalinists who captured Russia), they will be elevated to princes in the new regime.
Ernst Rohm and the others who assisted Hitler in his conquest of Germany held similar beliefs. He was rewarded with a bullet in the head in a prison cell. His associates died in “The Night of the Long Knives”, the lucky ones killed outright, the unlucky ones slowly strangled hanging from hooks like so many butchered cattle.
What these current fools and accomplices of this new tyranny fail to understand is that the history of tyranny is filled with such stories. The tyrant will not tolerate the existence of ANY groups or individuals who might come to threaten his tyranny.
