Former Florida governor Jeb Bush (R) is essentially tied with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) in early primary and national polls. While he is cleaning up with big donors, Politico suggests some just are not sold: Reliable top-tier Republican donors in Orange County one of the nations most lucrative fundraising locales are leery of committing until they get a better feel for Bushs electability. That keep-the-powder-dry approach represents a stark difference from the countys embrace of Romney, who raised more than $40 million from California for the 2012 cycle. Meanwhile, Bushs likability ratings are nothing to write home about, and a significant segment of voters seems to be giving a serious look at other candidates with broad appeal, such as Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.). Shouldnt he be doing better?
On one hand, Bush supporters will say that the race has not really begun and that, with this many new faces, it is natural for a large segment of the electorate to be undecided. But there are shortcomings, to be certain, and they have nothing to do with immigration (we have seen that a number of candidates have essentially the same position). There are, I would suggest, some ongoing issues that Bush has yet to address.
First, hes given up entirely on big set speeches, largely because his delivery is poor and he is uncomfortable reading from a script.

"Republicans lost the White House in 2008
and again in 2012, because Sen. John McCain and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney
failed to ignite conservative passions."
Apparently, conservatives’ votes are not so easily bought.
Basically...you get Romney version 2.0.
Yes, basically. But Mitt wasn’t married to a Mexican.
Why isnt Jeb Bush running away with it?
Because he is a POS.
That’s all I could come up with for now.
This guy studied Latin American affairs in college. That tells you where his heart lies
WaPo’s mouthpiece for The Cheap Labor Express is upset we aren’t holding our noses already for their amnesty candidate.
Newflash: Jebster will lose bigger than McCain.
Why?
Bush’s fault? Can we recycle that?
Focus Freepers, it is working.
The big donors realize we “little people” are done playing games. We are done being lied to. Done letting them think they can lead us around like an ox with a ring in it’s nose. No more three shell monte with flag burning or fag marriage or whatever else distractions they think they can smoke up. Done. It is someone with courage, strength, integrity or die. Ted Cruz.
So Jen’s dumping Jeb and shilling for Rubio now?
There is another reason that seems to be escaping the rats. Unintended Consequences.
The left absolutely destroyed the Bush name. So much so that few republicans, even the moderate ones will not pull the lever for Bush. Crispy would have been their best route to take, however after they created Bridgegate, that option was off the table.
Which leave Rubio, Walker and Cruz as your three main candidates. They won’t push Rubio because of his latino ties. Which leaves Walker and Cruz.
Would suck to be a rat waking up to that news.
“Republicans lost the White House in 2008 and again in 2012, because Sen. John McCain and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney failed to ignite conservative passions.”
Actually Republicans have lost 6 of the last 7 presidential elections in which they ran a moderate big government establishment candidate: 1992, 1996, 2000 (remember George W Bush lost the popular vote in 2000), 2008, 2012. Only in 2004, when George W. Bush was reelected, did the GOP brand win the popular vote, and that election was very close (Bush won 50.7% to 49.3%).
The last 7 presidential elections indicate at the national level a leftist redistributionist big government candidate will win running agains a corporatist big government candidate. The only reason I can think of the GOP would run such a candidate is a conscious desire to lose.
Actually that's a plus for Bush. I think once voters start seeing Bush more his numbers will go down. The closer you look the worse he appears.
The Boshies are worthless liberals and Uniparty hacks.
How does a writer pretend to do a serious article about Jeb’s lack of support and not mention Terri Schiavo?
Rubio’s been their backup candidate for some time.
Bush is now “essentiall tied” with Walker and Cruz, and once either drops out, the one remaining picks up those votes, along with most from the rest of the field, except for Christie, at which point Bush is toast.
