Why would Rand Paul say that?
American Thinker ^ | April 8, 2015 | Thomas Lifson

Posted on 04/08/2015 6:04:24 PM PDT by Mozilla

I really want to like Rand Paul, but he keeps saying things that give me pause. I like that he wants to fight the GOP establishment. I like that he wants to roll back big government. And I like that he wants to expand the base to include more young people and minorities. (There are some very worrisome things he’s said about foreign policy, but we’ll put that aside, as those views seem to be “evolving.”)

I didn’t listen to his Louisville campaign announcement speech yesterday, but Paul Mirengoff of Powerline did, and he noticed something that has really got me worried:

In his speech, Paul stated:

I see an America where criminal justice is applied equally and any law that disproportionately incarcerates people of color is repealed.

As John [Hinderaker] points out, pretty much every criminal law disproportionately incarcerates African-Americans, from murder on down. Thus, Paul sees an America where, at most, only white collar offenses are against the law — in other words, an essentially lawless America.

Perhaps this is a bastardized version of “disparate impact” thinking – that practices that disproportionately impact minorities (for example, civil service examinations) are subject to strict scrutiny. But does anyone think laws against murder don’t pass strict scrutiny? Or rape? Or armed robbery? All of these laws disproportionately incarcerate blacks. And that is not because the law discriminates in enforcement.

My guess is that Sen. Paul was thinking about drug laws, which he famously opposes. But that isn’t what he said...

{snip}

We can expect more of this modification of embarrassing rhetoric, leading to the inference that Rand Paul is not yet ready for prime time.

Rand is getting on my last nerve. The business with McConnell was annoying. This is just stupid.

It is the same thing that happened when Romney ran and won the nomination.

The GOP primary field was flooded with fake conservatives that split
the conservative votes into tribes.

i.e. The Huckster Voters, the Santorum voters, the Gingrich voters etc,
etc.
That allowed Romney to slip through.
I fully expect the GOPe’s to use this trickery again.
Unless we can unite behind one candidate, expect the same results.

Rand came out today and leveled the socialist media. It was so awesome. I have been for Cruz but I want a Fighter against tyranny.

I just saw Megan attempt to skewer Rand Paul because he would not put up with the liberal bias on the alphabets. Megan looks like she agreed with the liberals. Paul goes after the liberal media with gusto and I support that wholeheartedly. Paul did a good job in my opinion.

Having said all of that, Rand Paul is a nut on foreign policy and does not support Israel. We need a solid President - it’s not time for any more crazy experimentation.

Paul is much of an idiot as Obama is and he certainly is not republican let alone a conservative.

What he needs to do is get over his fathers ego and just drop out before he hurts himself more.

Already have a fighter against tyranny with Ted Cruz...
Randy Paul was whining about why he was being questioned about his changing views on military spending.

Explain that in detail. Paul is a sponser on the bill to require congressional approval of a “Treaty”. He just said he wanted to increase military spending $160 billion, Where do you get this stuff? Cruz is great. But watch your “eggs in one basket” when we get the law suit on where he was born. We might lose.

Mr. Paul filled the venue at UC Berkeley and talked with a smile about IRS, student debt, biased media and fake health fads. He wore jeans and cowboy boots and won over the crowd.

Rand is good for attracting votes and sadly, bad for American foreign policy. We need to strengthen our Navy and support new democracies in order to expand our markets.

The pathetic misuse of the term "NEO-CON" drives me crazy! Rand's use of it as a pejorative, for everyone who disagrees with him is just plain old STUPID and anti-Semitic!

CRUZ ALL THE WAY.....TO THE WHITE HOUSE!!!!

From Lame Cherry:

With Rush Limbaugh yawning over Rand Paul entering the Presidential race for reasons that Paul does not want America being the international police state or welfare state for the 3rd world........the Lame Cherry does not like Rand Paul any more than his tool of an old man in Ron Paul, who signed on to run blocking for both John McCain and Mitt Romney in siphoning off Conservatives in diluting the GOP vote.

That is what Rand Paul is a vote sucker meant to split the vote over the “Bush Factor” of that 17% of Rockefeller Republicans, as the 15 other candidates and bushwhackers gain their 5% to looserville.

Ron Paul is the reason America got stuck with Birther Hussein in what the Paul mission was as a political agent.

This is all about the numbers and running the same numbers percentages which put up the strawmen against Obama. Keep diluting the vote and eventually the guy who can fix the elections will gain the majority.

(snip)

In this Rand Paul package though, I will not be fooled as he is his old man’s vote blocker.

Rand Paul is in there to take white Conservative votes who would vote for Scott Walker. It is what this entire cast is bandying about. It was originally about Christy, but is graduated to Walker.

A lawless society with mob rule like we saw in Ferguson, Missouri is no good. If “people of Color” have no laws to abid them it will only get worse and people in the inner cities and bad areas of the country will have no reason to hold back and will tear down the place. Be a Anarchist utopia.
