Boehner: 'Not a time for excuses' for drone strike that killed two hostages
Washington Examiner ^ | April 24, 2015 | Susan Ferrechio

House Speaker John Boehner called for the Obama administration to provide "all the facts" in the U.S. drone strike that accidentally killed an American and Italian hostage held at an al Qaeda compound.

Boehner, R-Ohio, said he also expects House committees to look into the incident.

"As President Obama indicated, this is not a time for excuses," Boehner said after offering condolences to the families of American Warren Weinstein and Giovanni Lo Porto, an Italian citizen.

"The president announced an independent review is under way and that is entirely proper," Boehner said. "We need all the facts for the families, and to make sure nothing like this ever happens again in our efforts to keep America safe."...

How stupid is Boehner really? "Never happens again"? What does he imagine is going on over there? Killed by an airstrike, tortured to death, or beheaded, any American in the custody of these jihadis should be understood to be dead already. If they get rescued, great. I'm all for it. But is it really Boehner's notion that kidnapping and holding Americans hostage should provide perfect safety for the enemy? That "nothing like this" (i.e., turning jihadis into crispy critters) should "ever happen again"?

This is Boehner “conservative theatre”.

Posturing and saber-rattling to hide the fact that, in his actual job, he’ll do nothing to oppose the Kenyan monkey.

He’s just pandering to his base with the “White lives matter” mantra...

This is one that I’m not blaming Obama for.

If you kill enough hostages while you are taking out terrorists, it makes kidnapping less appealing. It’s part of a “we won’t negotiate” strategy.

I think the soviet strategy was a bit more appealing. They kidnap one of yours, you kidnap one of theirs and start sending them body parts.

Instead of rightly placing blame on Obama, Boehner seems to be backing him up. Pathetic.

Boehner is part of the vast right wing NCLA.

No Controlling Legal Authority.

How many divisions does Boehner command?

The overreliance on drones is a problem but the only alternative is troops in the line of fire.

If war had been declared on Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in September 2001, as it should have been, it would be ten years or more in the past already.

The two Americaqn Al Qaeda members got what was coming to them, and as far as Weinstein goes, he killed himself by being stupid.

Much as I despise Obama, he doesn’t own the blame on this one. People who go and work in those hellholes already know or should know the risk they’re taking. This is a collateral-damage situation.... it happens sometimes.

this is not a time for excuses," Boehner said

The same could be said when Boehner and McConnell try to explain why the "Republican" Congress has to approve with Obama's legislation.
