Network honchos at ABC are scrambling to keep their George Stephanopoulos scandal from becoming a Brian Williams disaster.
Insiders at ABC News said higher-ups were blindsided by Stephanopoulos’ hefty undisclosed donations to the Clinton Foundation, saying the contributions may have made damaged goods of their biggest star.
“This is a bigger crisis than ABC will admit,” a source told The Post.
“George is the centerpiece of their 2016 coverage. By donating to the Clintons, he has blown his credibility in one catastrophic move.
“How can he moderate a debate or question a Republican candidate without questions over his impartiality?”
Stephanopoulos is ABC’s chief anchor and chief political correspondent. The “Good Morning America” anchor admitted last week that he has donated $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation since 2011.
After apologizing on air Friday during the morning show, he repeated the mea culpa Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” possibly under threat of suspension.
“ABC is hoping this doesn’t spiral into a full-blown Brian Williams-style disaster,” the source said. “If more information comes out about George’s ties to the Clintons, things could get worse.

Dan Rather produces fraudulent news stories for decades and gets awards. Brian Williams uses the news to create a false persona for himself. Candy Crowley uses her “journalist” credentials to tile a presidential debate and Hillary’s pet, George follows tradition ...WHAT BIG CRISIS?
I suspect it really wasn't George's money, it was donated by someone else in his name (money laundering)
How could he ever have been impartial regarding politics when he went from a Democrat operative to an ABC mouthpiece for the Democrat Party?
What indications were there EVER of impartiality?

Well over 50% of the voting public. OTOH, if you were referring to Freepers, your inference is correct and the percentage is approximately zero.
This is one of those reasons that I’d like to just pick some Channel Nine reporter from Tupelo or some semi-unknown political writer for the Tulsa newspaper for any debate. Maybe even pick some retired NFL quarterbacks or Home-shopping Network gal.
I admit...debates spice up a campaign and demonstrate which dimwit is a incompetent loser. LBJ would have done lousy at a presidential debate. Reagan came in and did one great five-star moment in the last debate with Carter. But there shouldn’t be three characters playing the debate game (with the journalist as the third guy).
Now it’s time to not only finish off Stephy, but for the RNC to demand that anyone who donated to the Clinton foundation be removed from covering the 2016 election. Demand that Republican candidates will not debate on their network while even one donor is still working there.
It’s only fair.
There will be investigations of donations to all groups and foundations for now on.

The real scandal is that the GOP is gullible, stupid and spectacularly inept at playing politics against the democRATs and liberals. Instead of boycotting Jorge from day one when he became a so-called journalist, they validated him...only to be shocked some years later. Mitch McConnell further validated these hyperpartisan goons by again, appearing on Stephy's show this weekend.
The GOP establishment either sucks at politics, or they are in on the game.

A friendly court needs to get involved and demand that all Clinton Foundation donations be audited. I would love to see, just for amusement how the server crashes and there is no backups.
So far Stephi’s complicity has only scratched the surface, a pick axe and shovel would uncover and expose the whole network and the entire liberal media, that’s what they fear.
