Baltimore Police announced May's 40th homicide victim Saturday, making it the city's deadliest month in a quarter of a century.
Justin Mensuphu-Bey, 23 — who also went by Justin Bey, according to court records — was fatally shot in the 1100 block of Washington Boulevard in Pigtown Friday night, police said. The last time the city had 40 homicides in a month was August 1990, when the city had 42 and its population was significantly larger. So far, 2015 has seen 113 homicides.
Police also identified a previously announced homicide victim, who was shot in the 4000 block of West Belvedere Ave. on Friday night. He was Eladio Bennett, also 23.
The 100th shooting of the month also happened early Saturday morning. A woman was found shot in the leg in the 2900 block of West Lanvale St. in the Franklintown Road neighborhood of southwest Baltimore, police said.

Plus, we have one more day in May. I'm finally beyond words as to why Obama, Holder/Lynch, Sharpton, Jackson and all the other Black leadership show no concern. Then we have Detroit, Chicago, Philly, and so many other cities that experience so many black on black killings. It's a national disgrace.

I wouldn't have a problem with your point if it weren't for so many innocents getting killed/wounded in the cross-fire. I see it almost every night on the local Los Angeles news where some stray bullet hit someone who was not targeted.
As noted, Pigtown is based on the stockyards for pigs based there.
My grandfather’s family is one of those packing companies, all pig-based. In fact, I find it extra coincidental that another of the mentioned shootings took place by Franklintown Rd, where the plant is.

This big East Coast city has average home prices of about a hundred thou. That is already in decline I wager. The city has lost 120,000 since 1990. They can only go down from here.

Singly, event by event, you are correct; a person intent on committing violence will do so. However, there are also crimes of opportunity, which are in fact, deterred by a visible police presence and positive interaction and cooperation between the police and the community. Unfortunately, the deterrent effect can only be somewhat measured and quantified in its absence as we have no way of knowing how many crimes weren't committed.
