Fox News’ Megyn Kelly finally aired her big, much-anticipated interview with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, in which they opened up about their son Josh Duggar‘s public confession that he molested several young girls, including his own sisters, when he was a teenager.
The first time it happened, they explained, was when their son came to them, crying and saying he had touched his young sisters when they were asleep. Michelle Duggar said, “We had one ray of hope in that Josh had a tender conscience.”
There were more instances afterwards, Jim Bob Duggar said, in which their son had inappropriately touched his sisters over their clothes and “a couple of instances where he touched them under their clothes, but it was like a few seconds.” And, as he noted, his son’s victims didn’t seem to understand what had happened to them until it was subsequently explained to them.
They got very emotional as they spoke to Duggar about how they felt they failed as parents and how they came to the decision to send their son Josh to get therapy. Later on, Kelly brought up 19 Kids and Counting––which has been pulled but not cancelled by TLC––and asked, “What would make you launch a reality TV show about your family, given this past?” Jim Bob Duggar said they weren’t worried because the records were sealed and they had dealt with all this years ago.

It’s not about “stone throwers” or anti-Christian attitudes or ratings on TLC...it’s about parents who kept the interest of “what’s best for the interest of the family brand” ahead of the safety of their daughters. Period.
Josh should have been REMOVED from the family home (staying with a relative/grandparent w/o any small children) and given some form of treatment for his actions.
By the Duggar parents own admission, they waited til summer (and how many more “incidents” occurred?) to send Josh “away” to work w/a family friend doing home renovations.
Even more dispicable is bringing two of their daughters on TV to talk about their molestations by their own brother. Attempts at saving Brand Duggar? Or “pilots” for the (literal) next generation of Duggar TV?

Absolutely agree with you. People HATE this family and are more than willing to watch them go down in flames. All of them.
I do not hate this family, but I do hate the twisted ideology/theology they espouse and attempt to enact legislatively.
Also, their behavior (the parents) has not been inline with what they say they believe.
Mia Farrow’s brother hadn’t been a prominent realty TV star for years—holding up his family life as a fitting subject for a TV show.

How about an alternative motivation? I have personally known families that were sucked into ATI. I have personally seen the swath of destruction and ruined relationships as a result.
I see uninformed Christians here holding up the Duggars as an example of an ideal. The Duggar family view their show as an outreach ministry. Bill Gothard and ATI saw the show as a positive recruitment tool. Advertising worth millions for free.
The truth needs to be out in order to spare other well meaning people from getting sucked into the ATI trap. That is why I provide links to information. Do your own research. You don’t have to take my word for it.
Why would In Touch get sued if government officials turned over their records to them? I would thing it would be the officials who would get sued.

Well, that makes it ok to destroy the 18 other kids who are innocent in this mess and will have it follow them around for the rest of their lives.

Bull, the son’s incidents occurred long before the Duggars had a reality show, so they weren’t protecting the family brand; they were protecting their family, period. What part of 12 years ago don’t you understand? Why are you seeking to relitigate something that happened a long time ago by a 13 going on 14 year old with his siblings, ALL of them very much minors at the time. Do you get off on this somehow?
How is it important to your life? Are you jealous of the Duggar family making money? They have 19 children to support. Look at the moat in your own eye instead of casting that beady accusatory eye at the Duggars. The sin of misplaced self righteousness and unwarranted indignation is yours. Look in your mirror for a classic example of a stone thrower.
Stone throwing is for Muzzies to do when they are morally indignant, only they do it in a literal sense, whereas you do it with your words. I wonder what sins lurk in your family attic or are they all as pure as the driven snow.
A friend of mine who is a retired Cop from Chicago stated this would never have made it to court. It didn’t warrant it and he stated it was a matter best handled in private by the family. If you listened to the Duggars on Megyn Kelly’s show, then you would know they did send their son elsewhere, and they did take him to counseling with a non-church shrink, as well as the girls got counseling too. They also told the police who chose not to pursue it as it wasn’t the type of thing to pursue on a criminal level. It wouldn’t have gotten anywhere.
Inappropriate touching by a 13-14 year old that happened 12 years ago, is not a capital offense, although you seem to wish it to be so. Is ISIS your role model of how to deal with youthful indiscretions by a minor? Get a life.

I also worked with people on the Juvenile Courts. What Josh did is unicorns and faries compared to crimes they have seen.

P.S., the Duggar sisters, both adults now and married, and thus acting under their own free will, WANT to defend and protect their brother, and they are outraged they were outed, all of them, by an illegal leaking of juvenile records by a much more corrupt adult female, and I might add, Lesbian, police chief with an agenda. Yes it IS about Christians, and the gay agenda against them.
The sisters are able to forgive their brother, and support him through their mutual ordeal. Why is it you, a total stranger, are incapable of doing so too, while piling on, hmmmm? Are you wound a little too tightly for your own good?
