Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar built their custom home with a number of measures that physically separate their sons - including molester Josh - from their daughters, Daily Mail Online can reveal.
The couple, who have 19 children, moved into the sprawling 7,000-square-foot house they designed and helped to build in January 2006 - four years after their eldest son confessed to his sordid actions.
Strikingly, they built their daughters' shared bedroom at the opposite end of their home's second floor to their sons' room - with their master bedroom situated right in front of the girls' one, 'blocking' it.
It means that their sons - including Josh, before he moved out - have to walk past their parents' bedroom if they wish to access their sisters' room. They also have to walk past Michelle's office.
And the girls' and boys' rooms are not only located at polar ends of the second floor - they are also separated by a catwalk that stretches across the family's double-height living room and kitchen.

In the little of the interview that I watched, I sensed they were genuine Christians.
It`s not like they support abortion or gay marriage, if they did I would not have defended them.

I don’t dismiss anything. And I do NOT think he should be registered as a sex offender. He was a child. Agree or disagree, that’s up to you. But to say they are not Christians is something I do not understand. All have fallen short.
You defend this fraud of a family claiming to be morally upstanding people.
Yeah, now that the initial hysteria is past I’ve been wondering about this. I’m not defending the guy at all, but does this rise to the level of a sexual predator? Heck, until he confessed, his sisters apparently didn’t know they has been molested. How bad was it?

Like I said, I bet it would be very interesting to rummage through your dirty laundry.
14 and 15 years olds know right from wrong! Many are even tried as adults in murder cases! How do you explain that? He was of that age and preyed on his little sisters! It’s very clear. Molestation and sexual abuse is very serious and you just dismiss it. He was a teenager. Many commit crimes and are held accountable except for this individual.
I still find it hard to believe that sexual assault occurring again and again and again over a period of years can be merely referred to as "Falling Short".
And no one seems to understand that when this man was a child he went to his parents and confessed. He didn’t hide it, the girls had no idea of the inappropriate touching, which is all that ever happened.
Fifteen is not a child. You can be charged as an adult in many places at that age, including for sexual assault.
And he did try to hide his assaults, he waited until they were asleep to do it.
The Duggars story has changed since the police report, before he only confessed once, the girls had to go to the parents the other times. They certainly were aware of what was happening
These weren't just girls that he was trying to get a feel, they were his own sisters, the youngest only 5.
The girls trauma is going to be caused by the illegal releases of his sealed files, not the incident.
I'd say they are traumatized for both, I'm actually relieved that you're finally showing some sympathy for Josh's victims at the end of your post.
One of the girls wrote a letter and hid it in a book that was lent out in 2002 trying to get help describing the molestation.
None came until 2006 when it was forwarded to Oprah when the Duggars were trying to generate publicity for the show by appearing on hers. Unlike the supposed Christians surrounding the Duggars, she actually called the cops and canceled their appearance.
Designing a house for a family with 19 children with separate wings, one for the boys and one for the girls, with the master bedroom between makes perfect sense to me.
Caught a glimpse of these people Fox tonight...turned it off. The Duggars make my skin crawl.
The media was waiting for this story. Libs HATED the Duggers long before this ever came out.
As did I. Were they not, and were they not raising their children that way, their son would not have felt so guilty and went to his parents. The sisters had no idea, so if he hadn’t they would never had known. I also think the parents went above and beyond to correct the situation.
I had a 5 year old sister when I was 15. I didn’t digitally rape her. In fact, the thought NEVER crossed my mind.
But if I had of done so you can be dang sure I would posit myself as a good example of a ANYTHING.
What lies did they tell?
Pedophiles always escalate and it usually starts at that level. And I believe Josh is one.
The Duggars were lying all over the place last night. They told Megyn Kelly the girls didn’t know they were molested, but that directly contradicts what they told the police.
In their interview with the cops, the parents said they found out because one of the girls came to them in tears and told them what their brother had done to her.
I don’t watch any of these silly shows. I don’t care about the Duggars. I do, however, recognize a feeding frenzy by soulless ghouls when I see one.
Well I think these parents go to extremes with pretty much every thing they address and their faith practices from what I understand. So I suspect they might see things from that standpoint. So no surprise they went to the lengths they did in designing their home.......after all 19 kids is after all a bit much to keep track of even with all the “safety” measures they’ve obviously placed. But they did choose to have more than “quiver full” now didn’t they.
I don’t fear much in this story other than them making it a media matter is certainly in bad taste on their part IMO.
This was a family matter....and I do believe possible the parents blew it up further by how they handled it....they’ve willingly continued to keep it in the media....so I would suspect any fallout for them was and is anticipated and they believe they can handle that as well.
Open your family up to the world and the media you really are asking for being put under a magnifying glass by whomever will...as well as anyone who wants to get on the gravy train.
Seems you are right. Just like the Clinton crime family hit men all over sites attacking and defending.
If you were 15 and the little boy you were poking was 5 you should still be in jail.
