Embattled McKinney police officer resigns following pool party video

The Texas police officer at the center of a controversial video that showed him forcefully handcuffing and drawing his gun on a group of black teenagers at a pool party last weekend has resigned, the city’s police chief announced Tuesday.

McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley called Cpl. Eric Casebolt’s actions “indefensible” and noted that the officer, who was under investigation, “resigned on his own will.”

“As the video shows, he was out of control during the incident,” Conley said, “I had 12 officers on the scene and 11 of them performed according to their training.”

He said the internal investigation into Casebolt’s actions is now over.

“I do not condone the actions of those individuals who violated the rules of the community and showed disrespect to the security personnel on the scene and officers,” he added.

Again - 11 of the 12 officers conducted themselves in one way. The 12th officer conducted himself in another. Those 11 officers have received accolades for their performance. The 12th has been criticized (including by his own police chief). The 11 officers remain on the force. The 12th has resigned.

And yet, you call me a troll for supporting the conduct of the 11 officers who handled the situation professionally and criticizing the one who didn’t. OK.

Mckinney PD announced that the next pool type incident 911 call, the “tranny squad” will now be dispatched.

No need. They'll just send the 11 officers who followed their training and ended the situation peacefully without body-slamming anyone or drawing their sidearm. You know, the ones who did their jobs.

All of the other officers in the video look professional, are calmly (but authoritatively) speaking with people, and appear to be trying to figure out what is going on and to de-escalate the situation.

He even stepped in front of one of the other officers calming talking to some kids and lit things up with his attitude and language.

“I do not condone the actions of those individuals who violated the rules of the community and showed disrespect to the security personnel on the scene and officers,” he added.

You mean, he feels it necessary to say THAT!!! Why?

well i guess he shoulda let em shoot him.

Kind of hard to do when the teens were unarmed. Still, a lot of people around here seem disappointed that he didn't shoot the kids when he had the chance.

Whatever, the smartest thing for the officer in question WAS to resign and get the hell out of that city........

Probably. He didn't seem to be cut out for life as a police officer.

McKinny police union should notify its personnel to be on alert that the Chief does NOT have their backs, as they go about their daily patrols and emergency calls.

Another "Conservative" on FR backing union tactics.

PLEASE HELP! That (now viral) video of the officer in McKinney subduing a girl in a bathing suit was in OUR neighborhood. The situation was NOT what is being reported…

A DJ setup in a public space next to the private pool in our neighborhood on Friday and played loud explicit (F-bomb) music for multiple hours (it is unclear if he was invited by a resident as no one has claimed responsibility). The teenagers (both black and white) were being brought into our neighborhood by the carload because the DJ was tweeting out invites to a “pool party” for $15 (obviously unauthorized by our neighborhood). The teens began fighting with each other and pushing their way into our private pool. Some were jumping our fence. The security guard was accosted when he tried to stop the beginnings of this mob scene. Some residents who live around the park/pool area tried to come out and settle things down. The teens started yelling racial slurs at our neighbors and started assaulting people and property (throwing bottles at cars and attacking a mother at the pool with 3 young children). The first officer on the scene was by himself. At that time, the party had grown to a large, aggressive crowd. As the officer arrived, many teens started running through our neighborhood. Many of the teens were being very aggressive and yelling at the officers as more arrived.

This was a very dangerous situation for the officers AND the teens/residents not involved. The news media has refused to hear the neighborhood’s side of this story. The video being distributed is only a very small segment of what happened. This information being distributed by the media and others is extremely distorted and in some cases outright lies.

PLEASE HELP US STOP THE BROADCASTING OF THIS IGNORANCE. The media is trying to make it look like our neighborhood is a white’s only, racist area. Anyone who has spent even a few minutes in our area knows this is an outright LIE.

The unfortunate result is that our neighbors are now being threatened. We have also had cars and property in and around the park area vandalized this weekend.

Meanwhile, as we know, ISIS has no strategy from us, the Bilderbergers are courting cashlessness, economic disaster, and war (and perhaps bargaining over this, too), TPA and TPP are a hair’s breath from signing away US sovereignty, and Jade Helm from getting right in the face of American citizens, especially in conservative states.

But hey, let’s make sure Blacks play their part in bringing about the emasculation of local policing so that 0bama’s SS can swoop in, like the velvet-clad iron fist they will be.

I KNOW someone who was on the list of people to be disappeared in Argentina. A national police force will not be a rescue for anyone but the elite, who themselves already have gunhands they pay for.

For anyone who wants a real explanation, ask CACIQUE, if he still answers.

So did the 12th officer who just resigned. He was surrounded by three active youths, one of whom went into a shooting stance. Potentially intentionally provocatively.

We must be watching different videos. The one I saw didn't show anyone in a shooting stance except the officer.

When fellow police officers have to restrain a cop, it is a great indication that the cop is out of control.

I know LEOs who keep their weapons in the middle of their backs. They draw from that area.

I would have done exactly the same thing as he did.

Hopefully including the resigning from the police force part.

This is really not good —word will spread that it’s STUPID to do proper police work, then property rights will suffer and when THAT happens, EVERYONE suffers.

What is stupid is to call it proper police work. Twelve officers were there. Eleven managed to do their job without slamming anyone to the ground and without drawing their weapon. One officer did both. Are you saying that the other eleven did not provide proper police work while the officer who resigned did?

You don’t get it - no one here is disputing anything you wrote. Yes, the “pool party” violated the HOA rules. Yes, the attendees were trespassing. Yes, they were very likely causing problems in the neighborhood (as groups of teens tend to do). And yes, the police were correct in responding to the situation and dispersing the crowd.

Around here, at least (I can’t speak to any of the lib/”black lives matter”-type sites), supports the McKinney police officers — the 11 officers who responded to the scene, acted professionally, and worked very hard to de-escalate a tense situation. What I and others have a problem with is the 12th officer, who did precisely the opposite. Nothing you wrote changes that. Not one bit.

Then why did at least one of the other LEOs run off after the one guy who appeared to be rushing Casebolt?
