Embattled McKinney police officer resigns following pool party video

The Texas police officer at the center of a controversial video that showed him forcefully handcuffing and drawing his gun on a group of black teenagers at a pool party last weekend has resigned, the city’s police chief announced Tuesday.

McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley called Cpl. Eric Casebolt’s actions “indefensible” and noted that the officer, who was under investigation, “resigned on his own will.”

“As the video shows, he was out of control during the incident,” Conley said, “I had 12 officers on the scene and 11 of them performed according to their training.”

He said the internal investigation into Casebolt’s actions is now over.

“I do not condone the actions of those individuals who violated the rules of the community and showed disrespect to the security personnel on the scene and officers,” he added.

2. No other officer, at least until this point in time, was in a situation where they were being targeted by multiple individuals simultaneously.

How do you know that?

What is this police chief thinking, not defending his officer?

He was defending the other eleven officers who did their job properly, not the one officer who did not.

Did you know the organizer of this pool party is from Chicago?

LOL, that isn’t a shooting stance, and it isn’t even a stance, it is movement from a video.

Actually you don’t “get it” and I didn’t write it, a frightened resident did.

He didn't seem to be cut out for life as a police officer.

Not everyone is, by any stretch of the imagination. It is a tough job if done right.

Those who are good at it are a rare breed and have my respect.

OK. Prove your point. Next time you’re in a crowd and around a single LEO, act like that girl. Refuse to leave six times and make sure to raise your voice and talk back to him/her. Then get back to us.

Then why did at least one of the other LEOs run off after the one guy who appeared to be rushing Casebolt?

What were they armed with and when did you see it?

So? The residents were frightened, justifiably so. And they called the police, understandably so. And the police responded. 11 of the 12 officers responded in a professional, composed manner. The 12th officer did not.

The entire video needs to be set to Bennie Hill music.

I am not talking about the stance in freeze frame. I am talking about the same guy, who threw off his hat as he came around the right side of the LEO. Tan shorts guy could have just as easily come straight for him frontally, from the position where the guy in the shorts was earlier.

People expect perfection from officers, but seldom express concern about antisocial behavior. I wish the officer well.

The point is that NONE OF THE OTHER OFFICERS PUT THEMSELVES IN THAT POSITION. They were all courteous and composed, and handled the situation with professionalism. This guy was running around, shouting orders, and otherwise acting out of control.

It’s no coincidence that he faced that kind of resistence, while none of the other officers did.

I’ll take the residents words over yours or the MSM’s. Thanks just the same.

Look back at the video, at the end. One of the officers did take off after the tan shorts guy, around the corner to the right.

I didn’t see a weapon, so I don’t know.

The lack of support for this guy demonstrates that the thugs have won. This will only encourage them. They have their push to ‘keep going.’ AKA set up Obama’s national security force.

The lack of innocent until proven guilty is gone. We now live in the equivalent of Mexico’s or any other Lat/S. American Napoleonic system.

Get your imagination under control, Barney Fife resigned, and this boat has sailed.

I completely agree. It does take a special kind of man or woman to do it well, and those who do do it well deserve all the respect we can give them. Which is why when we have rare instances like this where an officer abuses his authority, acts in a panicky manner, and places the lives and safety of civilians and, perhaps, his fellow officers in danger then he should be removed from the force.

Except that the resident's words don't conflict with mine. The resident is talking about the necessity of the police presence to clear out the "pool party." The resident says nothing about the conduct of the one officer in question.

Unless it has been reported, it can be assumed that it did not happen.
