German discounter Aldi on Thursday detailed a plan to grow in the U.S., saying it would invest billions of dollars and create thousands of jobs as it works to ramp up its footprint.
Aldi is opening its first stores in Southern California in March of next year, and will open about 25 stores by July. The company plans to employ 1,100 people across its stores and at its regional headquarters and warehouse in Moreno Valley, CA.
The retailer, which described its U.S. expansion plans as aggressive, said it would put more than $3 billion behind a five-year plan to open 650 new stores across the U.S. By the end of 2018, Aldi expects to operate close to 2,000 stores, reaching more than 45 million customers each month....

I bet they’re smart enough to stay out of Baltimore and Ferguson.
My first choice in grocery stores, generally the best values around.
Yea that is because they will rake in millions from food stamp fraud. They let people buy junk with their cards.
Aldi offers foods at prices that undercut Walmart, and its owner is a staunch German conservative. What’s not to like?
I tried to use them twice, have not been back since. To me it’s equivalent to shopping at family dollar or some other dollar store.
Their Burman ketchup brand tastes better than Heinz...and much cheaper.
Every business does that, how are they different? It’s really up to the feral government to contain fraud, not the companies.
Finally I'll get the ten choices I've been begging for all these years.
Limited selections. Same company as Trader Jose’s.
Aldi is where my wife and I shopped while we were stuck in West Virginia. Now that we survived that and are back in Colorado, we’re really hoping they make it here someday soon! Aldi was pretty much the only GOOD thing about WV. Lol.
Do they still have Alpha Beta and Von’s? I grew up in Chino a long time ago.
Who doesnt like horsemeat?

YUM!
There are certain brands I will not compromise on and I do not do walmart either.
No more Alpha-Betas.
My local Aldi has good prices, good quality on most items.
Sirloin steaks $5.99 ($7.99 at competitors)
Milk 2.29
Eggs 0.90/doz
Fresh fruits and veggie prices are usually less than competitors.
Some of their packaged brands I don’t really care for.
I go there about 2-to-1 over other stores. Walmart recently opened a Market grocery a few blocks from me. I go there for convenience — and their deli pork ribs.
They bought out Trader Joe’s, a CA staple for about 40 years.
o you know how it stands up to Trader Joe’s?
I find we now shop at ~10 different store brands in a month. It used to be just 2 ten years ago.
They were serving kangaroo when I worked at Hardee’s back in the day. Tasted like beef to me. Plus, our ancestors preferred horse over beeves.
Trader Joe’s has been in LA about 40 years. Aldis bought them out fairly recently.
