Ted Cruz Channels Paul Ryan: 'A Lot of Misinformation' on Obamatrade That 'You Can Get on the [net]'
Breitbart ^ | 6/11/15 | Matthew Boyle

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)96%, a 2016 Republican presidential candidate, defended his decision to vote for Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) that would fast-track the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (T-TIP) and Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA)—among other deals—during a Thursday interview with the Hugh Hewitt radio program.

Hewitt started his line of questioning with coming out of a commercial. “Let’s take that opportunity, then, to go and talk about free trade—TPA, TPP, Export-Import Bank. Sen. Cruz, for clarity’s sake, can you quickly give us an overview on where you are on those three issues, as there’s quite a lot of confusion among conservative voters as to where different people are and why on each of those three issues.”

“Sure,” Cruz responded. “There is a lot of confusion and, unfortunately, a lot of misinformation you can get on the Internet that people are confused, so let’s explain what each of those three are.”

Cruz, by saying that, was essentially making the exact same claim—blaming the Internet for what he argues is “misinformation”—as House Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)60%. Ryan made the claim on Fox News earlier on Thursday in response to Breitbart News reporting highlighted by the massively influential Drudge Report. Ryan, with whom Cruz pushed Obamatrade in a Wall Street Journal op-ed in late April—one that’s been used by Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-OH)40% to try to rally support for Obamatrade—has been essentially discredited by various false statements he’s made throughout this process.

That Cruz would use the same talking points as him is interesting and probably disappointing to many conservatives. That Boehner is using Cruz to push Obamatrade is probably even more disappointing to most conservatives... ...

Cruz get off the pot and READ the f’n bill, before you vote on it!! You would think by now, after watching Obama for 7 years, they’d be leery of anything the commie pushes.

He was governor of a blue state. You have to factor that in. He was accountable to a much different constituency and political situation than if he were president.

And when you elect a president you’re not just electing one man. The establishment-in-waiting of his party comes in with him. So a vote for the Republican means voting in a whole slew of people who will fill positions that affect the business of the country, people who are more conservative than the outgoing Rats they replace. This is no small thing. A vote for Romney was a vote not only against Obama but also against people like Lois Lerner and a thousand other less visible lefty apparatchiks who are screwing up the country even as we speak.

As for how the election went, you got your guy and his many helpers. Your failure to persuade more conservatives to stay home just meant he won by a smaller margin.

Except none of us was telling people to stay home. Quite the opposite. We were oth there working to get people to more conservative. Thats also historical fact.

Mitt’s state being blue does not matter. Logically if you want to flip a blue state red, you would push conservative policy. If you want to make it bluer, you push liberal policy. Mitt pushed abortion, gay marriage, hard left judges and Romney cage. The result was making a blue state bluer.

Again, documented history.

Sometimes things in politics are pretty simple. In this case they’re incredibly simple. Ted Cruz had a choice: stand with the middle class or with the globalists. He chose the globalists. The only thing that is unusual is that it’s coming back to bite him. So, he’s doing what political hustlers have been doing since time immemorial: trying to spin it.

Someone needs to tell Barry Soetoro the Pacific Rim is full of people who do not buy into the whole Gay Marriage fad.

Those nations, under the TPP, would roll back all of Barry’s pervert social changes.

The sad fact is that whether we elect a Republican or Hillary, we will have a crony capitalist in the White House who will always serve his or her corporate masters.

A Republican would agree with us on more issues, but the big money boys will still own our political class. Little will have changed.

If you think any Republican is going to educe the federal government, you are delusional. Never have, never will.

So, Senator Jeff Sessions, who has seen these deals in the cloak and dagger back room with guards, is confused by the ‘internet’ when he says it is a terrible deal?

Senator Cruz needs to explain how Senator Jeff Sessions is ‘confused by the internet’. After all, Sessions has seniority over Cruz, has seen the paperwork in the top secret backroom deal, and Sessions says it is a terrible deal that will cede American sovereignty, increase immigration, and be a ‘living law’, i.e., able to be changed at whim by the partners to the deal without it having ever again to go before Congress.

Pretty much every thread like this I try to imagine the lack of self dignity that causes people to crawl so deeply into liberal excuses. Every thread like this I find myself able to understand such moral cowardice and stubborn refusal to accept the reality we live in.

And for that I thank God.

I’d say that we need to go slow on this since they have not made available many details. I’d also say that no one should vote on something when they don’t know the details. We have too much of that going on already.

Sessions said this about TPP, IIRC, not TPA.

Cruz is speaking to TPA.

TPP is secret - but isn’t the subject of Cruz’s discussion at the moment.

TPA is not secret, and is what is being discussed.

Crux isn’t talking down to us - he is using a debating style to outline why he is supporting the non-secret TPA.

We can agree or disagree, but to have a politician actually engage with their understanding of what is actually in a bill is a refreshing change, to me.

Ted Cruz's comments without analysis from the writer of the article:

“Sure,” Cruz responded. “There is a lot of confusion and, unfortunately, a lot of misinformation you can get on the Internet that people are confused, so let's explain what each of those three are.”

“TPA is Trade Promotion Authority, it’s also known as fast track,” Cruz continued in his answer on Hewitt's program. “That is the process through which free trade agreements are negotiated. Historically, since FDR virtually every president has had fast track authority. What fast track provides is simply if a free trade agreement is negotiated, that Congress will vote on it up or down without amendments, and history has demonstrated for the last 80 years that the only way to get free trade agreements adopted is to have fast track. That if there is no fast track, free trade agreements do not end up being negotiated.”

“Now there is a second issue which has caused a great deal of confusion, and that is TPP,” Cruz said.

“Trans Pacific Partnership,” Hewitt interjected.

“Correct,” Cruz continued. “That is one specific trade deal that is currently being negotiated. It is separate from TPA. Congress has not voted on TPP, and there’s a great deal of concern about TPP. Now, I have not voted on TPP, and I haven’t decided if I will support it or not, because the negotiation isn’t complete, and I’m going to wait and review and see what the agreement is first before assessing if it would be beneficial or harmful.”

It does not seem to get into those GOP exonomics technocrats heads that the country is not a gentle CEO lead nation. Empowering the like of Obama with weapons and the NSA and what not is absolute folly. What part of government is evil they do not understand?

Here are 7 reasons why the House of Representatives should vote NO on TPA (as stated in “7 Reasons Why Trade Promotion Authority/Fast Track Must Be Defeated” by William F. Jasper, TheNewAmerican.com, June 5, 2015):

TPA is essential to passage of the very dangerous TPP and TTIP.
TPA is a “bum’s rush” that ratifies a secret, corrupt process and aims to ratify a secret, corrupt product.
TPA is an unconscionable abdication of constitutional responsibility by Congress.
TPA not only hands power to Obama, but to his successor as well.
TPA is another giant step in the unconstitutional transfer of congressional authority to the president.
TPA also challenges the Constitution by violating the requirement that treaties be ratified by a super-majority vote of two-thirds of the U.S. Senate.
The TPA will speed the transfer of immense power to federal and international judges to eviscerate the Constitution; to strike down federal, state, and local laws; and to legislate from the bench.

It shouldn’t be refreshing, because Cruz and others are ignoring the toxicity of both bills together, like a drug that shouldn’t be taken with another drug.

Their tactic is:

1. Try to confuse them.
2. If it doesn’t work, try to convince them they are confused.
