The City of Bixby changed insurance deductibles for their employees.

One of the changes means that a family now has a $7,000 deductible instead of a $500 one. There is a gap plan available on limited basis.

Employees said that no one asked them about the change or if they would prefer to pay higher premiums instead.

With that kind of deductible, it’s tantamount to being uninsured except for catastrophic illnesses, and most will just avoid going to the doctor except for real serious issues. I’ll also bet that employees will absolutely max out their use of sick time for even the most minor of illnesses. What will that cost the City?

I don’t think they will be nationalized. They will be heavily regulated “licensed contractors.” They will use the student loan model. The government nationalized the student loan industry to pay for 0bamacare. At first, the Department of Education tried to run the student loan business, but screwed it up. So the government farmed out the student loan management to a number of government contractors, like Great Lakes Borrower Services. A lot of these were the rumps of the student loan industry that then re-tooled for their new masters and went back to doing what they had been doing.

It will work the same way with health care and the insurance industry. Crony capitalism/fascism will be the order of the day.

Problem is that Doctors will feel the heat.

They still care, and want to help.

But it is bo’s fault.

Screw these government employees. The private sector started getting government gang banged paying for all these bureaucrats, years ago.

Between insurance companies and government, the private sector tax payers walk around bent over, assuming the position. They’re used to being screwed.

Tell those bureaucrats working for the City of Bixby, if they don’t like it, find another GD job.

It’s what they tell us.

Years ago I joined http://samaritanministries.org for healthcare.

$400 month
$300 deductible

I dropped my employers covarage which became so high in both monthly fee and deductible. Now, anytime I change employers I refuse their healthcare and just keep use http://samaritanministries.org .

“”One of the changes means that a family now has a $7,000 deductible instead of a $500 one.””

May as well not have any insurance - pay the penalty instead.

A $7,000 deductible means that you may as well have no insurance.

I am sure it is a shock to the employee's. But if you read the article, they still don't pay any premiums and only $129 per month for a family. That is still a lot better deal than many Obamacare plans.

This would be fine if people were allowed to save in a tax free MSA for just such a purpose.
But the rats are against that on principal. They prefer their constitutes broke.

For most of the middle class a $7,000 deductible would send them quickly to the poorhouse. But they not be able to understand that.

I work in an SEIU closed shop hospital and the dumbasses who voted for O are having crap fits over having to pay more for their healthcare now.

These clueless creeps voted for this, don’t see the connection, and still see themselves as privileged characters who should be immune to the crap they helped bring into existence and therefore imposed on everyone.

Back in 2010 my family of five had premiums of $310 and a ‘catastrophic’ deductible of $5,000.

Now our deductible is $11,000 - and the premiums are $1280 a month!! These idiots are welcomed to the real world.

And I used to joke that “but at least now we get free birth control”! But I can’t even joke about that. My wife was prescribed some birth-control pills to treat a menopause thing - but they were something special, so we weren’t even covered for those!

Exactly. But democRats don't trust you to make the right decisions.

Same with Social Security.

Your deductible is $11,000, or is it your out of pocket maximum? And for $1280 a month, I'd drop the policy and just pay cash.

The policies aren’t about providing healthcare. They’re about double taxation and seeing how much they can retain to maximize profit while setting up a citizen database.
