Trump can do for America what he did for Atlantic City....

Are you kidding? Since yesterday, I’ve seen him compared to Reagan and to Abraham Lincoln.

I’m waiting for someone to compare him to George Washington so I can dive through the screen...

Would love to see Trump run for governor of NY or Mayor of NYC and see what does first.

Why?

Everyone else who does that is corrupted, lobbied and influenced. All of them. The longer they're in the government machine, the worse.

We don't need more career politicians, attorneys and more bureaucratic blow fish.

Enough.

Donald Trump is the man who bravely kicked Kadaffy off his land. What Trump didn’t do was spend a lot of time reminding us that he rented the land to Kadaffy in the first place.

BTW, its a good thing I didn’t hold my breath waiting on that Obama birth certificate “The Donald” was going to show us.

I am no fan of Trump as you can tell.

But there is no doubt in my mind he would be VASTLY superior mayor of NYC of governor of NY than the current incumbents.

He would certainly be more business friendly and more taxpayer friendly.

Politics is like any other business. You don’t start out at the top.

Yes. Reagan did amnesty.

A big no no for me. Even back then.

BTW, Reagan is dead. You’ll have to move on.

Good. Reagan was a long time ago in a very different country.

Thrumps words were:

Only now, nearly seven years later, are people beginning to question whether there's anything beneath that smile

My question is do you agree with that assessment? There is nothing about amnesty in the Thrump's statement or my question.

If you’re going to compare Trump to an entertainer, I’d propose W. C. Fields except Fields was smarter (even when drunk - most of the time). Bombast is the talent the two share.

Trump is more akin to PT Barnum.

Your primary is next June. Mine is in March. Want to make a friendly wager Trump won’t be around for mine, much less yours? This is his biggest okey-doke yet.

“The Trump Casino in Atlantic City is a joke.”

Trump hasn’t owned that for years now. Geez.

No no....You’ve mistaken me with others here attempting to make some kind of comparison or correlation.

I never did the comparison game. That’s just a political pap.

Reagan is dead. That’s all distant history.

Time to move on.

I posted this on another thread and I have a feeling I'll be doing it again:

I'm convinced a lot of the Trump loving callers are Democrat operatives flooding the shows. They sound a lot alike. It's in their interest to make the GOP debates look clownish.

Of course, I could be wrong. This wouldn't be the first time I have underestimated the stupidity of Republicans.

On guns: “The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions. I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I also support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun.”

Perot was in cahoots with the Clinton's, and sucked away the conservative votes from Bush. If it wasn't for Perot, Bush would have been re elected, and we would be way better off. Trump = Perot. He knows crony capitalism works for him.

“Donald seems to be saying what everyone in common sense America wants to hear, I don’t trust the man to actually do anything about it if he should happen to get into a position of power...”

That may be but how does that make him any different than anybody else running.
I trust him more than the others.
With Trump I already know what he is.

Not in substance. Reagan was serious about politics and had been governor of the largest state. Trump is more of a clown or entertainer.

But there is one thing: they both come to politics having been celebrities, and escape the trap a lot of candidates can't. Candidates usually start out as relative unknowns and have to struggle to get people to notice them. But by the time the public finally becomes familiar with them, people are sick and tired of them. They don't have the new car smell and they've passed their sell-by date.

Somebody who comes in already a celebrity doesn't have that problem. You may be sick and tired of Trump already, but he doesn't have to worry about slowly rising up from obscurity and making a name for himself with the public.

So, sure, very different people with very different consequences for the country, but they do have that one thing in common.
