Trump Surge Leaves All but Jeb Bush in Donald’s Dust
Wall Street Journal ^ | July 18, 2015 | Dante Chinni

Something strange has happened to the Republican presidential field since Donald Trump joined it a month ago: Mr. Trump and Jeb Bush are rising. Everyone else is falling in the polls, or seems stuck in place.

The numbers suggest Mr. Trump is shaking up the GOP primary electorate in a meaningful way. He seems to be taking support from the most conservative and anti-Washington rivals in the field, particularly Mike Huckabee, Scott Walker, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul.

Mr. Bush’s rise in the polls suggests that his base of support has little overlap with Mr. Trump’s, and he therefore may have the least to lose in attacking the brash New Yorker. And Mr. Bush, in fact, has criticized Mr. Trump’s now-famous claim that many Mexican immigrants are criminals.

Trump is getting conservatives to his camp while Bush is taking on disaffected left...perhaps deserting a sinking ship and Bush is a moderate lifeboat.

This early in the election period, Bush has only name recognition. IMHO he will drop from sight after the grassroots start to learn who the players are.

¡Yeb! is nearly indistiguishable for Hillary. If Cruz does not get the nomination, I’d rather it be Trump.

Jeb's entire campaign is based on two things:

1) Everyone knows my name
2) I've got more money than anyone else in the race

Now, with Trump, neither of those things matter. The first is no longer so significant and the second is blatantly untrue.

At this point all Jeb really has would be a bunch of ideas that appeal to Democrats.

The WSJ wants Jeb Bush. Remember, they are big business just like the rest of corporate America whose executives pump lots of money into the Dem coffers. Also, keep in mind that the WSJ which at one time was staffed by conservative Republicans now is full of liberal journalists.

Seems that those who consider Donald “extreme” like the agreeable (wimpy) moderation of Jeb.

Those who wish someone would speak forcefully about the major issues they believe, are attracted to Donald.

One group hates the tea party. Loves big business and get along without social issues.

The other group wants real change for the better on key issues.

As the campaign goes on, I’m not convinced Jeb will represent the first group. It will likely be Walker or that cuban guy from FL :-)

Donald will have an uphill battle in FL.

“Trump is not a conservative. I vote for conservatives.”

I don’t think any conservative will win this nomination - consequently, the Presidency.

So I assume your statement means you are not voting in the general.

Jeb Bush may still have more apparent support than other more qualified candidates now, but it is simply because his PACs, the quisling RINO establishment, Democrats and media have sledged him into the ground.

But his CLEAR allegiance to Mexico, Mexican, Hispanic in general above all else will be the undercurrent that eventually compromises that hard soil into which he was pounded. He is willing to sell out our sovereignty to 40-50 million illegals, all in some misguided delusion they will be the tipping point to elect him. He is mistaken. He is also very much mistaken that I’d hold my nose and ever vote for him. That will not help me. So help me God.

The legacy mass media seems ready to print almost anything to get another Obama elected — Hillary or bush, very little policy difference and both unlikely to even try repairing much of obama’s damage to USA and the American people

I agree and applaud your clarity.

We need another Bush about as badly as we need a large brain tumor.
