Oh please. Why blame the mayors? They end up between a rock and a hard place, in between state law and what not.
Plus, the remedy for executives who fail to enforce the law isn't jail (what's the crime?), it's removal from office.
I figure "arrest the mayors" makes a for a nice sound bite, and maybe he let it be known it was tongue in cheek. Might as well arrest the legislators who pass "sanctuary laws" while we're at it.

Don’t stop there. Every member of their city council that voted for sanctuary status should join the mayor in jail.

Mea culpa - Jindal was describing proposed legislation, not the use of existing law.
I think his proposal for new legislation is on a good track, especially allowing civil liability. it's a radical departure from current law which holds the government has no duty to protect any individual from crime.

Trump needs to announce that his DOJ will prosecute any public official who violates Federal Law. Subject these officials to being sued by families of victims of illegal aliens, too.
To: jimbo123
Brilliant! I agree. These mayors are no more than accessories to crime. First, the crime of illegals crossing our border without permission. Second, the numerous crimes, including rape and murder, committed by these illegals.

Have any states voted to become sanctuary states?
Might as well arrest the legislators who pass "sanctuary laws" while we're at it.
Mayors and city council members seem like fair game to me.

I agree. These leaders violated Federal law, I see Obama Admin as having more culpability, DHS allowed the lack of immigration enforcement. Obama should be impeached.

This is interesting as Mitch Landrieu just clarified that New Orleans will officially not cooperate with INS in enforcing immigration law.
Sounds like Mitch may be between a rock and a hard place soon.

The plan calls first for Congress to criminalize sanctuary cities existing by making city officials that enact those policies as an accessory to the crimes committed by the illegal aliens those policies enabled.
How about a plan calling for Congress to enforce our existing border laws and build a fence? Without that, the rest is just empty gesturing. How long are we going to come up with BS "immigration reform" plans and plans to criminalize sanctuary cities while ignoring the cause of the problem?
To: jimbo123
They’re not accessories. Their actions were irresponsible but did not assist in the execution of a crime.
