Erick Erickson Disinvites Trump From Red State Gathering Over Megyn Kelly Insults
The Daily Caller ^ | Saturday, August 8, 2015 | Kerry Picket

Posted on 08/07/2015 10:46:29 PM PDT by kristinn

Red State’s Erick Erickson dis-invited GOP presidential candidate and businessman Donald Trump after he insulted Fox News anchor and Thursday night’s debate moderator Megyn Kelly during a CNN interview Friday night.

I have rescinded my invitation to Mr.Trump. While I have tried to give him great latitude, his remark about Megyn Kelly was a bridge too far — Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) August 8, 2015

“Well I just don’t respect her as a journalist. I have no respect for her. I think she’s highly overrated. But when I came out there what was I doing I’m not getting paid for this. I go out there. And you know they start saying lift up. And you know I didn’t know there would be 24 million people I figured but I knew it was going to be a big crowd because I get big crowds I get ratings they call me the ratings machine so I have you know she she gets out and she starts asking me all sorts of ridiculous questions,” Trump said to CNN’s Don Lemon.

He went further saying, “And you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes blood coming out of her — whatever. She was in my opinion — she was off-base. And by the way, not in my opinion, in the opinion of hundreds of thousands of people on Twitter because it has been a brutal day. In one way a great day for Fox. in another day in the Twitter sphere it’s been very bad because she’s been very badly criticized. She’s a lightweight. I couldn’t care less about her.”

I would think that his refusal to rule out a third party run would have been enough to dis-invite him.

Good to know where Redstate stands.

As LS stated, Trump is the best mechanism conservatives have in place to get out their message. 24 million tuned in to hear Trump and heard what the other conservatives (and some RINOs) had to say as well. Suffice to say it may have been a first for many of them to hear real ideas.

For many, it was probably the first time they realized Ted Cruz was not an evil gnome but is truly Presidential Material.

This is the same clown that was extolling the fraudulent virtues of Rick Perry back in 2007-2008.

“Folks that age sometimes get confused and lose their train of thought.”

As stated by someone who obviously is running a billions-of-dollar empire.

“Then he has no business being President then.”

Is it possible for a person to be that suggestible?

How about ‘ears’.

Don’t put words in people’s mouth.

It’s unsanitary.

So, if he gets confused and loses his train of thought, is he capable of serving as POTUS?

Yes, that is what he meant to say.

I know Trumpers on here want to spin and spin...but this was a BIG misstep.

I have said that Trump’s weakness was his mouth...well, we are seeing it now.

Trump supporters, STOP spinning! Trump said what he meant and he made a mistake. He should admit it (say, if there was a misunderstanding, I am sorry) and move on.

“The Alinsky Method at demonizing a candidate is in full play here. “

Absolutely. There was a candidate that mentioned Alinsky, but I can’t remember who now.

I don’t see where Trump insulted Kelly. He didn’t say anything worse than what he questions implied. The PC police again - a white male can’t say anything back.

But there is no way that they can definitively say that the menstrual cycle is what he was about to say.

I haven't seen the video, but the only way to go there would be if Trump made some obviously suggestive gesture to suggest what he meant.

For all we know, he was going to say eyes again, but just said 'whatever' because he'd said it already and it was pointless.

Erick Erickson must read people's hearts. I don't know much about him. Does he have a 'more righteous than thou" approach to life?

So many “politically correct” fools in our country. We have to all get back to work and stop wasting time and energy on nonsense!

== 24 million is a huge signal that the natives are wrestless and are sick and tired of the same old political lies and liars.

== FoxNews had basically signaled several days earlier that they would be gunning for Trump.

== Trump had never been in a political debate, so his novice status certainly made him an easy target.

== Kelly basically opened the attack and Trump basially responded in kind. Notice Kelly’s smirk when she asked her editorialized question. Notice that Trump’s response wiped that smirk off her face. Kelly liked dishing it out; she just didn’t expect ‘incoming’.

== Trump still drove the media headlines yesterday and is doing so again this morning.

== Some posted in related threads ‘live’ polls by various media websites of the debate results. Those were certainly not all conservative media. Trump’s numbers were in line with the results of Drudge’s poll. Trump was in the 40-55% range and the nearest competitor was in the 10-15% range.

== Luntz said debate ended Trump’s campaign. Luntz was shoveling dirt on Trump’s dead campaign a couple of weeks ago after the McCain-Trump flair-up. It seems that Trump’s campaign is not dead yet.

== Other media (other than FoxNews) seem to be crowning Kasich as the real winner because he came across as a jovial good-ole-boy.

== I thought it interesting that new-comer Kasich — governor of Ohio — managed to make the big table debate which was held in — {drum roll} — Ohio. Who’da’thunkit? A co-winki-dink?

== So far, Trump seems to be forcing people to, as the Twix commercial says, “Pick a side.” He is forcing people out of their comfort zones.

In your post #17, you have given the best summary I’ve seen on FR of the current situation.

“I’m not being sucked into that stuff anymore”.

I couldn’t agree with you more. Sick of all the “gotcha type” questions coming from the media.
I am not a Trump fan, but it was pretty damn clear what Kelly/Wallace and Baier were up to. They got more airtime than the candidates.
They virtually ignored Cruz.
No more FOX for me. I e-mailed them all and told them why I was turning them off.

And Erick.....something tells me you won’t be subbing for Rush anymore.
