Donald Trump just had one of his most combative interviews yet (with Chuck Todd on NBC)

Donald Trump went back and forth with NBC host Chuck Todd on Sunday in one of his most combative interviews since announcing his presidential candidacy earlier this summer.

In a 37-minute conversation on "Meet The Press," Todd pushed Trump on a wide range of issues with which the real-estate magnate would presumably be confronted if he won the presidency in 2016. It forced Trump to be on the defensive on everything from his college record, to outsourcing, to the US role in NATO.

But again, is Ukraine stupid.

No, but they are desperate, humiliated by the complete failure of their military, and their government is in disarray.

It is clear most ethnic Ukrainians want to look to the West and get out from under the paw of the Russian bear. Unfortunately they don't have the means to do it without completely changing the dynamic. Desperate people do irrational, dangerous and/or surprising things.

This thing with the Ukraine is only going to get worse. Whoever the next President is will need an actual plan to deal with it, or at least a set of options that go beyond "I don't care either way (if they join NATO)"

Trump may also prove the challenge that eventually gets these “wimps” in motion.

They cannot scoff him down, they cannot rage him down.

But they can pick up the ball of godliness, which would put them beyond where Trump is now. And again, Trump himself may have an epiphany of God. Things have many months to play out.

They might still have a sense of timing. Don’t poke the bear when all you have is vines to run behind.

And again, maybe Trump thinks he has the negotiating power to be able to hold a detente against Russia.

It fits with his manner.

We already betrayed Ukraine. The U.S. & allies got Ukraine to give up it’s nuclear weapons. Our part of the bargain was to protect them. Guess we broke that one.

Yup, to be fair, he is new at being a politician. He doesn’t know all the issues as thoroughly as many people here do. On these issues he stumbles on, I think he is just giving his gut reaction. He very well may discuss it later with his advisors or people like Rush, Sessions, etc, get a better feel for what precisely was being asked of him, and clarify. Nothing wrong with that. Who he looks to for advice and support matters a great deal. The fact that he seems to have worked with Senator Sessions on the immigration issue makes me feel pretty confident he is turning to the right people - at least on that issue.

Yes, there are definitely intellectual advantages of being held to a higher standard. However, it is unfair on general principles.

He knows who’s serving the red meat... and that is a sign of a good leader. He knows where to get his advice.

I have cautious hope. The Trump phenomenon has, so to speak, fracked the well of populism.

...“Democrats have opened our borders to all manner of horrific Third World violence, crime, and disease. The GOP has supported and endorsed this vile activity every single step of the way. Trump has tapped into the fury of the American people over the unrelenting anti-American NWO push of our paid employees in government. Trump could win this on this one issue alone. Americans are tired of being betrayed by their government on both sides of the aisle.”...

You are wrong! F Chuck is NOT combative with all republicans. He gets along fine with guys like McCain, Romney, and the bottom dweller candidates of 2016.

F Chuck is combative with likes of Trump & Cruz only,
because they do not fit his desired type of republicans.

We can never ask and see Obama’s admission records for Harvard, rumors were he said he was a foreigner and his tuition was paid for by Saudis?

Obama’s grades were not good enough to get into Harvard unless he was given special treatment as a FS for diversity.

Nobody in Obama’s Columbia class remembers him.

But they have access to Trump’s records, HOW, did Donald release them already?

He's gone down one point after getting a post debate bump of 5 points.

Not in the poll I was referring to. Dropped 1 point pre-debate to post-debate. No 5 point rise.

Chuckle should ask Obama about Ukraine.

Main article: Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances
On December 5, 1994 the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, Britain and the United States signed a memorandum to provide Ukraine with security assurances in connection with its accession to the NPT as a non-nuclear weapon state. The four parties signed the memorandum, containing a preamble and six paragraphs. The memorandum reads as follows:[4]

The United States of America, the Russian Federation, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,

Welcoming the accession of Ukraine to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons as non-nuclear-weapon State,

Taking into account the commitment of Ukraine to eliminate all nuclear weapons from its territory within a specified period of time,

Noting the changes in the world-wide security situation, including the end of the Cold War, which have brought about conditions for deep reductions in nuclear forces.

Confirm the following:

1. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, to respect the independence and sovereignty and the existing borders of Ukraine.

2. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their obligation to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine, and that none of their weapons will ever be used against Ukraine except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.

3. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their commitment to Ukraine, in accordance with the principles of the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, to refrain from economic coercion designed to subordinate to their own interest the exercise by Ukraine of the rights inherent in its sovereignty and thus to secure advantages of any kind.

4. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm their commitment to seek immediate United Nations Security Council action to provide assistance to Ukraine, as a non-nuclear-weapon State party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, if Ukraine should become a victim of[4] an act of aggression or an object of a threat of aggression in which nuclear weapons are used.

5. The Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America reaffirm, in the case of Ukraine, their commitment not to use nuclear weapons against any non-nuclearweapon State party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, except in the case of an attack on themselves, their territories or dependent territories, their armed forces, or their allies, by such a State in association or alliance with a nuclear-weapon State.

6. Ukraine, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the United States of America will consult in the event a situation arises that raises a question concerning these commitments.[4]

This Memorandum will become applicable upon signature. Signed in four copies having equal validity in the English, Russian, and Ukrainian languages.
