CNN Panel Likens Trump-Ramos Exchange To Reagan's 1980 "I Paid For This Microphone" Moment

On Tuesday’s “CNN Tonight,” host Don Lemon reacted to an exchange between GOP front-runner Donald Trump and Univision’s Jorge Ramos, who was in attendance at a press conference Trump was conducting before a Dubuque, IA rally. Lemon likened that moment to Ronald Reagan’s famous “I paid for this microphone” moment in Nashua, NH in February 1980, prior to the 1980 election’s New Hampshire primary.

Definitely similar, but Trump wasn’t even angry. It was like he was brushing off a moth.

The rest of the GOP can learn from this.

They have been hiding from a paper tiger all these years, when they could have been winning.

There is an arrogance and sense of untouchability that journalists have that defies logic sometimes.

They think because they have a press badge, write for a blog, show their asses on TV or gossip at a DC party, they’re entitled to be anywhere, any time and act a fool. It is all about THEM, really. Their career, their ratings, viewship, readership or hits.

This gets them into trouble some times. From those times when a ‘journalist’ or ‘photo-journalist’ gets killed in a war zone, or gets violated by Muslim to those times when they get put in their damn place when they act like a two-year old.

Do not suffer fools lightly. Ramos was being very disruptive and did not so much want any answer, but only to divert the attention away from what The Donald was attempting to answer to another of the corps of reporters in the room.

Rightly, the disruptive element was ejected from the room, but was allowed in later when cooler heads had prevailed.

But one thing was demonstrated - The Donald is darned near unflappable.

I actually think Trump went too easy on the guy. Not only was Ramos disrespectful to Trump but he was disrespectful to the other press in the room who were politely waiting their turn to be called.

Unfortunately some of the other press members seemed to be sticking up for Ramos after he was booted out. Trump should have asked them what made Ramos so important that he got to stand up and go ahead of everybody else even though he wasn't called upon. The first person Trump called on wasn't even able to get his question asked because the inconsiderate Ramos kept shouting over him.

Next time this happens, I'd like to see two security guys use his head to open the door like they dealt with that loudmouth in the movie Casino,

Really?

To the TDSers on Free Republic, The Donald was a small, wussified boy that couldn’t take the heat.

They didn’t give a damn that the so-called reporter hack was shouting out of turn, well after another was acknowledged.

Ramos began lecturing Trump. First it was not his turn. Second, reporters should ask questions. Ramos kept saying you cannot do this, you cannot do that. Trump said, sit down please.

Trump let him back in and answered more than one of his questions.

Isn't that what the illegals do? They get ahead of everybody else following the law and do as they like and then scream and yell if they don't get their way? Laws, rules and tact are for other people--not them.

I don't know about that, but Trump definitely handled it better than most candidates would have.

F&F had an interesting segment this morning after re-playing the Trump brouhaha. Little Liz read Roger Ailes letter to Trump wherein he chided The Donald for writing mean tweets about Megyn Kelly. Then Liz lectured The Donald about sticking to the issues because vagina and all that. As if Kelly had stuck with the issues in her questioning of Trump the other day at the debate. Simply incredible hypocrisy. I cannot watch FNC except to monitor what a train wreck it is becoming. Trump is definitely inside their OODA loop.

They don't actually believe that, that's just what they wish others would believe.

Anyone who watched knows the truth - that Trump is a strong personality with absolutely no fear who refuses play by THEIR rules.

First, I do not trust Trump.

Second, I do support Trump throwing Ramos out. Ramos was disrespectful and disruptive.

Third, every friggin election cycle we have to hear the press try to find that Reagan “this is my microphone” moment or the Clinton “Sista Soulja” moment. The press has no creativity.

This was also a warning to the Black Lives Matter people who have taken over other people's rallies. Trump already criticized people for losing control of their events; he had to act tough here or tool credibility.

The moment in question.

Punk Ramos was out of line.

Trump let him back in later.

I probably would not have—lol!

This my great hope. That the Party will finally learn to stand up for what they believe and NEVER be forced on the defensive by the PC Left. As Trump did last night, rude and obnoxious people can be firmly yet respectfully put in their place with no harm.

It is my strong belief other respect a person who refuses to be pushed around.
