“Gee...funny how they never did this when the “sanctuary city” crowd decided to defy the law.”

Post of the day.

“Why don’t her bosses fire her?

If they won’t, why aren’t they arrested, too?”

She is elected and can only be impeached. The PEOPLE of her county don’t want her impeached. This Judge has overstepped and violated his authority and her first amendment rights.

"They would fire her for not doing her job"

She can not be "fired", since she was not "hired" she was elected. And as others have pointed out she is the only one actually obeying the law. This is pure tyranny by the federal judiciary.

I’m not up on this story, so sorry for ignorance but why would she be JAILED? Why not just fired? I’m not understanding this. Seems like it’s just for politics.

Also, gay marriage is the law of the land even if it isn’t your religion’s law. If you job is to give marriage licenses, you have to give them to gays. It’s a stupid protest because it will bring NOTHING. It will change NOTHING. Another clerk will be brought in.

Imagine a hospital worker who is Jehovas Witness (doesn’t believe in transfusions?) who gets transferred to a transfusion dept. They would have to beg for a transfer, or quit. If as a Jew I were told I’d have to work on Saturday, I’d have to go against my religion or quit. You can be asked anything legal by your boss, and you need to perform it. Period. You can always quit.

This was a stupid performance.

Our say comes thru the ballot box. If our society hadn’t elected evil people to office, judges like Ginsberg and Kennedy would not be judges.

The Liberal media controls 40% of the ballot box by feeding propaganda to the dumbest 40% of the country.

I no longer regard our democratic system as viable. It won't be viable until both sides have access to the information distribution system, and not just Liberal Democrats.

The ballot box is broken. The system has been gamed. We no longer have fair and legal elections.

If she cannot be fired, then she should fall under contempt charges for refusing to obey the law.

I will agree when you can show me the law she is refusing to obey.

Civil disobedience is what needs to happen. Sit-ins. We will not be moved. Jail us all, or jail none of us.
This is NOT just about gay “marriage”. It’s about freedom itself—freedom of religion, freedom of conscience, freedom from federal tyranny. It’s about what our children will be taught in school and what kind of America our children will live in; it’s about our right to teach moral values to our own children without fear of being jailed for doing so.
If we aren’t willing to draw a line in the sand and force the Feds to back down, we all need to STFU.

Look up Morehead, Kentucky and note that there are at least 20 Kentucky counties closer to Ohio, where this homo couple lives. They are not being inconvenienced in the slightest. This is a search and destroy mission.

Also, keep in mind that she runs bible studies at the local prison. It’s not like the environment will be unfamiliar to her.

I did not know that. That may be the reason she is not so terribly afraid of it.

Well you stated she wasn’t issuing ANY marriage licenses. That’s what I based my “not fulfilling her oath” comment on. Maybe I should change the word oath to duties.

Look at it this way. If you accept the concept that SCOTUS has the final say on the constitutionality of a law, then the most that SCOTUS can do is overturn or invalidate laws that they determine to be unconstitutional. They CANNOT decree that existing laws have been changed. So if the Kentucky laws are written so that they specifically limit marriage to a man and a woman, SCOTUS may be able to overturn those laws so that they may not be enforced. But that means that Kentucky no longer has ANY laws concerning marriage. If the existing laws are invalid, then the state legislature will need to pass new laws that are constitutional. Until that happens, no marriage licenses in Kentucky can really be issued legally, can they? So by not issuing any marriage licenses, it seems like she was abiding by the current state of the law in Kentucky...

I think some judges need to be impeached, not the clerk.

Did he assign bail? If not, why not?

She was jailed for contempt. There is no bail.

Or can a judge do this when the charge is contempt?

They can.

Every contempt jailing I’ve ever heard of, has been for a specified time period, usually a couple of days.

When a judge jails someone for contempt it's until the person jailed agrees to abide by the judge's order. That usually doesn't take long.

To order her held indefinitely, without a jury trial and without bail, could effectively be a life sentence, should she refuse to comply. This is beyond the pale.

Supposedly there's a limit of six months or so.

And that line of reasoning is what Christians SHOULD have done with the equally wrong/reprehensible Roe V. Wade - we should have fought tooth and nail to preserve our states rights to make the law on that issue. Instead, we were cowards and just let the Supreme Court essentially make State law and illegally take on a power they didn’t have. So now we continue down this horrible slope started way back in 1973.

Caused by the 14th amendment. Let us not forget that this amendment empowered this abuse.
