That's a great idea and good philanthropic effort on the part of Naguib Sawiris. Move the refugees in next to their close neighbors and cousins, until things settle down again in their home countries.

Makes sense. Wonder how many countries would object to those islands being under an Egyptians control. Would it be a private island or part of a country?

According to the article, he’s offering to buy a deserted island from one of the nations, build infrastructure on it and keep it private.

I think it’s a splendid idea, and if done right, could be a shining example. Think of the engineering teaching opportunities for Syrians who’d eventually like to fix Syria.

If TX had islands, I’d jump at the chance to design the biosphere, even if were only to become a tourist attraction.

Back to stay or back for additional training?

Sounds like a better idea than having these refugees spread all over Europe.

The first, for me.

I’m already drilling horizontally the holes across the chosen isle in my mind for infrastructure: a desal plant is the first thing to build outside the CNG power plants.

Hmmmmmmm? Kinda sounds like when the Germans tried to get France to give them Madagascar to resettle the Jews? There has to be more to this.
