Donald Trump did not serve in the military, but according to a report, the Republican presidential candidate and multibillionaire business tycoon said in a forthcoming book that he still "always felt that I was in the military" because he attended a military boarding school and "dealt with those people."
According to an upcoming biography and interview excerpts shared with The New York Times, Trump said that his five years at the New York Military Academy provided him with "more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military."
After the Vietnam War, all those military academies lost ground because people really disrespected the military, Trump told the author in an excerpt shared with the Times. They werent sending their kids to military school. It was a whole different thing, but in those days 1964 I graduated that was a very good thing or tough thing, and it was a real way of life at military academy.

I always felt I was Fred Astaire, too. I could do everything he could do except dance.
lol yeah right
The problem is that he went to military school or that he didnt serve in the military.
The problem is he thinks his experience is better and more military than the military.
He went to New York Military Academy which is a posh private $31,500/year school.
More experience than Miss Lindsey, I’d bet.
There’s Rick Perry, but he’s barely a candidate.
Trump debating Biden will, no doubt, deliver endless amounts of entertainment.
Criticizing the price and quality of someone’s education?? Wow you sound like a liberal!
Rick Perry served. National Guard I think.
Trumps popularity is more a reflection on how lame the rest of the field is, rather than on Trump himself.
Are you going to give him a pass on this one too?
A) I’m a Cruz bundler and
B) You’re a troll.
Oh, that hurt!
LOL the comment was not directed at you but to the other people I pinged...
Well versed on the topic, here. Thanks for your posts on this, too.
Very true!
In the old days, "military school" was a serious threat parents used to keep their kids in line and I bet the New York Military Academy was very serious about being very serious.
Most kids, especially in those days of long hair and hatred for the military, don't go from 8th grade to a graduating high school senior, their formative years, with former military instructors, in ROTC mandated military training classes, no "civies", always wearing a uniform, shining brass and spit shining shoes, folding and cleaning prior to getting a barracks inspection after reveille to start the day, every day, and taps to end the day, every day, not to mention forming ranks in all weather, marching in all weather, etc.
Most kids, other than those spending some time in marching band, have an entirely different and much more free and easy 8th grade through graduating high school senior experience.
Few will know anything close to his military school experience unless they go to boot camp when they graduate high school.
On the other hand, by the time Trump graduated from high school, he already had FIVE years of living a regimented military lifestyle in uniform.
He "Got Military?" much earlier and for longer than most do.
Whatever he claims to feel and believe about the military, I am very inclined to believe him.
Wasn’t criticizing, was informing. You’re deflecting from my point which is very liberal.
You mean more military experience than President Bush who was int he military? That’s a neat trick.
Oh I’m sure a few vets who actually were in the military and actually did their duty might take exception to this. It may not cause them to vote for someone else, but I doubt they’re happy with it.
Well, not to denigrate Bush but while he did do a dangerous MOS it was basically a weekend job. I have to admit I wasn’t thinking of him specifically. More like BJ and the Klown.
Weak MOS or not he was actual military.
I get what you were saying though.
A very good point.
